Yup, have ordered from them before. BHPhoto will ask you to fax over the credit card (front and back) to them before they will ship the order.

Apart from that, pretty run of the mill online ordering.

certain items are much cheaper. eg. their EOS 1D is S$1000 cheaper than Singapore's price.

B&H are one of the very few New York based camera dealers that I trust. Only ever had one problem in ordering from them and that was a win my way anyway so I was happy. Just be aware of the warranty positions on some items (check first with their support people) and that they have a quite steep minimum shipping charge for international orders.

Customer service is patchy, some emails are answered in less than 24hrs others can take days to weeks.

Is that before or after shipping and the exorbitant exchange rate charged by credit card companies? You're referring to the US$3995 offer, right?

B&H - good service, order now and get your stuff in about a week. Dont necessarily have to fax them your credit card, can also scan and email them. Only need to do it once then you're in their records. Email is promptly answered taking into account the time difference. Keep an eye out for their holidays if you need something urgently.. they close on jewish holidays in addition to US holidays. Prices.. you need to do your homework and factor in the shipping cost, the shopping cart checkout will tell you how much.

Their cheapest shipping is through the US Postal Service ~US$27. Do you think that is safe enough to deliver a lens (US$80) to Spore?

Not worth it, I would say. Find a few more people from ClubSnap who want to get other items from B&H (there are a lot, based on the MO I did for some folks here from B&H a couple of weeks back, received a lot of other requests to 'tag' along for several items). Then either split the shipping equal ways or something, it is cheaper. US$27 works out to almost S$45....
