Anyone bought the S9500 @ comex?

I handled the S9500, and it was really really nice to hold. The zoom ring, manual focusing ring made it feel like a real SLR. Good build, finish, and size. It would've been a must-buy for me, IF it was released 18 months ago.

Fujifilm has released this as an attractive alternative to DSLRs. I believe it's a very good prosumer camera, maybe even the best prosumer around. But no matter how good a prosumer camera is, it's just simply a different class to DSLRs. Inherent disadvantages (and advantages) will always remain.

But of course, there will always be fans of the all-in-one package. The one thing that kept me away from Fujifilm's prosumer cameras is that it doesn't have a particularly sophisticated external flash system. If the S9500 had that, AND image stabilisation, it would've been a killer camera.

Likely to take sometime because it's newly launched, as nowadays so many brands out there are competing against each other for the price war. Maybe 9 months or longer who knows? :dunno:

Unfortunately, this is the letdown of the S9500. It does not support TTL in anyway. If you look at the hotshoe for the external flash, it only has a single contact (the one that triggers the flash) without any other contacts, TTL is not possible.

Some kind man please answer this question:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can someone please tell me why even when a picture is taken at f2.8, the picture still is sharp and not blur?

For example when I take pictures of buildings at an aperture of f2.8, the buildings are still sharp and not blurred. Has it got to do with the focusing or is it that aperture does not adversely affect DOF?

The S9500 has no TTL for external flash, so the recommendation for external flash would be the same for S7000 and S602... do a search on these.. :)

P & S digicam and prosumer digicam have Aperture ranging from f2.8 to f11, but their aperture range are different from that of DSLR or FILM SLR. When shoot at f2.8 a P&S or Prosumer have background bokel not as good as a full frame DSLR or film SLR because of the size of the image sensor. So for a prosumer digicam f8 is almost like f16 or higher. Hope this help.;)

Oh ok thanks alot. Finally someone saw that message of mine haha.

I was speaking to a good friend and he asked me to consider the Metz. Did a search on the Internet and found the recommendations for the S9500:

Mecablitz 34 CS 2 Digital
http://www.metz.de/en/photo_electronics/analog/mecablitz_34_CS-2_digital.180.html

Mecablitz 36 C2
http://www.metz.de/en/photo_electronics/analog/mecablitz_36_C-2.179.html

Will be going to check it out later in the evening.

hi, does S9500 feels plastic? I haven't get the chance to feel the camera. Is the body made of hard plastic throughout, or with magnesium alloy with plastic outer cover? Thanks in advance.

Personally, it feels like my F80 which I believe is made up of plastics. But at least the weight of around 600g makes it feel pretty balanced.
