Anybody using mainly Carl Zeiss lenses for your Nikon DSLR ?

Don't think you'll get anything more than what is already here. Afterall, it's a Nikon sytem, not many people will buy the new ZF lenses to replace their existing Nikkor all over again, plus they are MF so some people will hold back too. The most is just to get a couple of signature ZF lenses just for keeps.

Guess I'm the only one that is more or less looking for information to see what lens to buy,
considering that I've only one lens to date.

Heart's pretty set with the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 as well as the Distagon T* 2.8/25.

Simply wanted to know if getting Carl Zeiss lenses will be worth it or not..

If you don't mind shooting MF, images from T* lenses has some kind of aura to them.

i'm just wondering if the AF indicators will still be there for this $60 screen, as the katz-eye one has the usual 11 points with the microprism n stuff around the centre AF point..

Yes... they (the 11 points AF indicators) are still there. No affect at all. ;)

If the ZF 85/1.4 your first 85mm lens , grab it.
You will not regret using it [ unless for the MF part :D ] .
Its an excellent lens that I don't want to part with also.

Here is a shot taken with that lens and somehow focused to the forehead

Thinking of getting it as soon as I can.
Just got myself a Tokina 28-105 f/3.5 - 4.8 from Cathay Photo which was their last piece at $45 to try.
Still can't get used to having one more ring to turn..
Guess I'm more used to prime lenses..

25mm 2.8 CZ is worth considering. a different contrast comparing to nikon lens.

i bought the Distagon T* 2/35 ZF instead.

Now that I'm unemployed and finding jobs..
Plans for the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 on hold.
*sigh*

gohaj: Do post photos from your Distagon T* 2/35..
Keen to see them too. ^^

OT:
Wanna say on my thread to all guys using Crumpler's 7 Million Dollar Home..
If you've got a sliding strap.. Do get the Quick Flick Buckle.
Works like a charm.

any nice pictures to share?

i am very interested in this lens actually

for URL of photo taken using Zeiss ZF 35mm f2 & Nikon D200, please click here for full size resolution without any touch up and without any sharpening

Photo taken at
- f stop @ 2.0
- shutter speed @ 1/40sec

The D200 split prism focusing screen at Orient Photo cost S$65. Katzeyeoptics split-prism screen cost US$95.

A colleague of mine paid almost S$200 (with shipping) for the Katzeyeoptics version. A quick comparison shows no differences. The latter may be slightly brighter but with a f1.4 lens, it is already bright enough.

Anyway.... Unlike leith1978, I have no problem getting sharp images with my ZF lenses. Even at f1.4, the subject looks nice and sharp.

May I know after changed to the split focus screen,
Will it still working well on the AF lens?

I shoot 99% using Zeiss lens only ^.^
I barely touch my Nikkor lens anymore...

last sunday I went out to shoot these using D3 + Zeiss 85/1.4 + SB 900 and Pocket Wizard.

A lot of people are having a problem with the focusing.
Yes it's true!! if u are not using Nikon D700 or D3.
Even when I'm using Zeiss lens on my other DSLRs, such as D50, D60, D80 or D300, the focusing is not as accurate and easy as D3/D700.

Hi,your shots never fail to impress me.

As stated in the title..
Wanna know if any Nikon user in this forum uses mainly Carl Zeiss lenses for his/her Nikon DSLR or SLR..
I'm kinda' keen on the 85mm f/1.4 as well as the 25mm f/2.8..
What would be your views on it ?
Should I go for those 2 or go for the Nikkors ?
Photos to illustrate would be good..

They are made in Japan by COSINA under CZ designs.
