It's Jurong island. I see it all the time from where I live (Yio Chu Kang). Can even see the flames.

Saw it this afternoon travelling along the West Coast viaduct towards Clementi.

Actually it becomes more intense at nite with the clouds diffusing the light.

Anyone living along Pasir Panjang, Teban Garden, Pandan Garden or any hi-rise facing West, should be able to spot the flame.

i saw it last night from west coast park... around 11pm...

we're all going to die?!

thought was some fireworks..

on the way back from Jb i saw it too.. tot singapore on fire:bsmilie:... hahaha touch wood...

I saw it from the East and the glowing red sky from city area, from my East side view. Was wondering what was it.

Didn't knew such a thread existed already in Kopitiam ...,

... the full sequence of the gas flare can be located here.

I saw last night at Ghim Moh area. At first I thought my imagination coz I was wondering why the sky was reddish bright one moment, then dark liao after I blinked

ExxonMobil cracker furance going to start next year.
Good luck to our sporeans. Depending on the wind directions.
What kind of gases are we going to breath in?
What are the long term effects on health?
Any reports on air quality in spore? around Jurong? Clementi?
Very concerned.

Yup, its some petrochem company buring off excess gas or something like it. Caught this 2 nights ago

This one is by Shell located at west of Pulau Bukom, much further than next year's ExxonMobil cracker which is nearer to mainland Singapore at Jurong Island. Si liao as that one cracker as big as this one.

This type of flaring are normally controlled burst of highly combustable hydrocarbon vapor mixed with steam at the flare stack tip for complete combustion. Such thing nothing new as we have been breathing whatever they spew out since the 1900s when the 1st refinery start operations at Bukom.

I think we better not find out what gases we had been breathing.

Ignorance is better. :bsmilie::bigeyes:
