Yup, get the single lens kit will do, there are a lot of good conditioned lenses on sale here. You can get the Hoya filters from MS Color too since you're getting the cam from them, then can bargain for a better price too.

Thanks alot Galdor.
Hoya filter it shall be.

My 1st step into DSLR photography world.
:)

Thanks alot.

Hoya for me then.
Price range will be?

I got the qoute from MSColor.
A200 with 2 lens kit will be $999 + 7% GST
means $1070 right?

I guess i go for single lens kit instead.
Can get a 2nd hand lens when i am more pro into photography.

:)

I think the two kit lens is better value... Hoya filters for 49mm or 55mm only $30? Or less I think... don't really know cos I always use larger filters >72mm...

Thanks alot Galdor.

Congratulations on your new purchase bro. The price is great but better to remove it as this price is exclusive for you only and we do not want the shop which gave us good pricing to get into trouble since Sony controls its pricing.

Anyway, for the filters, you may want to bring it back for an exchange.

I decided to bring back the Hoya filter and see if can change for me a new one.

Thanks.

Now all i need left is a bag and dry cabinet
then it's time to learn shooting.

Cathay Photo has a good selection of Lowe Pro bags and TK Foto has good selection of Tamrac and other brands... Peninsular Shopping Centre & Peninsular Plaza also has a few shops which carry other brands...

I shall go CathayPhoto to check out the Lowepro bags
problem is should i bring along my A200 go also?
Problem is how to bring it out safely?

No need to bring your cam along. Just need to know what are the gears you have and if the bag can contain your gears. You can even look at the Personal Classified section here for some 2nd hand ones which will be cheaper.

You have to first decide if you want a shoulder bag or a bacpack. Then zoom in to see which bag you prefer. You may also want to check out the website for each brand to see what is suitable for you.

Oh, since, you are going to exchange the filters, you may want to get the bag & dry cabinet from MS to and ask for discounts since you bought everything from them.

Actually I would bring along the camera and lenses I usually use. This way I can test out the different bags and check for the ability to configure the way I want the camera and lenses so that I can shoot easily... For example, I prefer to put my body lens down in the camera shoulder bag so that I can just pull it out by the grip and start shooting... and I also put on the vertical grip permanently... so a larger shoulder bag is important... and I also want my two lenses to be easily accessible and where I can swap places between changed lenses quickly and have it protected without keeping the lens hood... so a 17-35mm has a much wider hood than a 24-135mm and so I need a larger bag that can allow me to create a fatter compartment to accommodate both lenses... in addition, I also want my flash to stored upright and can be taken out instantly and used... so I usually go for a bag that has four tall vertical internal compartments on each side of the bag plus a large vertical internal compartment in the centre for the body plus one lens... the internal comparments are made up by the dividers that Lowe Pro bags come with...

Another option that I have seen some friends use is the Think Tank belt pack... seems quite suitable for my shooting and carrying style... only problem is when in transit, a shoulder bag offers better protection... plus it's not glued to my waist for the entire trip... pros and cons of each system... and neither is cheap...

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and a newbie in DSLR camera.
I bought a A200 and an air-tight dry box to store my camera and lens, is it ok??

Dynamic range optimizer do ur normally set to advance or standard?

cause i find when i set it to advance and colour mode in vivid when i print out my photo i find it quite redish in colour

Switch on DRO only when you have a scene where the bright and the dark areas cannot be properly captured by the camera... otherwise leave it off... VIVD increase saturation so it will look reddish...

Remember to add some silicon gel in the dry box otherwise the humility in the box will just as bad as the humility around you when you seal the box.

You may want to start with the following:

- Blower (Get those type used for electronics for Sim Lim Tower on $5.90 can get very good ones already)
- Nylon Brush (Get the art brush type, so that hair don't fall out easily)
- Lens cloth (Those for spectacles will do)
- Lens cleaning liquid (Those for spectacles will do)
