Actually, I had the similar problem also. I had an old DVD which I shot for my frens during their wedding before I came into tis biz. But the DVD - dunno wat brand last time i bought - I also couldn't view nor extract data of the video. I'd seen some companies saying they can do data recovery but cost a bomb.

Anyone got any solutions?

I used ISOBuster to recover data from an old disc. You can set it to ignore read errors, so the file that you eventually recover will have some errors in it. But at least you should be able to open the file and extract the undamaged portions.

Kajun Liu's problem seems to be different, because he can copy the file off the disc, but can't play it on the computer.

yeah... file can be copied, but can't be opened...
anyone can help...

Ya, I'm not saying the problem is because it's a vob file, just trying to clarify so I don't tell you the wrong thing.

I saw your other post about the .net framework. The good thing about vob2mpg is that it does not recompress the file, it just reorganises the video data and packs it as mpg. There is another program below that will rip the vob files and convert to mpg (or other formats), but I haven't used it and don't know if it recompresses when the output is mpg. It is freeware though, so as long as the download is not too big for your connection, there is no harm in trying it out.

If you have XP SP2, then frame.NEt 1.1 is already in your comp. You will need very good NLE software to open these files. That's why it's not cheap. Unless that clip is very important I would suggest you count it as gone.

mine r SP1 only...
it's my friend's clip though...
he ask me to help...
looks like i can't lor...

If he's wiiling to pay then maybe I can give it a try but would be expensive.

I don't mind trying to help out if you can get a copy of the file to me. No charge, but no guarantee of success. PM me if you are interested.

but it's too large ler... it's about 900+ MB
my connection is dial up, only 56Kb only...
i give up aredi, just return his DVD to him dis afternoon...

btw, thanks a lot for wanna help me out...

close the thread then.
