Any regrets after switching from DSLR to full M4/3 system?

hi all, just got a EPL-3 and Oly 17mm f2.8. Was trying the continuous AF on my kid since they are on the move. Maybe i tested in home so the light condition was not gd, i cld not get a decent shot even on burst mode. Realise the servo motor is always focusing. Is that normal? Feel that my previous 550d is better. I will bring the oly outdoor for more test.

if u need camera with good low light performance.... should have gone for the newer E-PL5... the new sony sensor is WAAAAAY better than the older generation of E-PL2 / E-PL3...

although for the CAF... i not sure if E-PL5 will do better than E-PL3 in low light since i've never tested b4... but with better sensor i'd think that the CAF should be better...?

had compared with OMD , the EPL5 cant capture a closer purple color . u can try as well .

CDAF still struggles with subject tracking. The only mirrorless cam so far that seems to have gotten it right is the Nikon 1 which incidentally, has PDAF built into it. Lately other manufacturers have gotten in on adding PDAF to their CDAF (Canon, Sony and Fuji) but it seems like their implementations are still not quite there yet.

Guess I need to get my eyes checked...I don't see anything wrong with your pics and I do not see any "browness"... OH well ... I am almost 60 so maybe I do not see as well??? The pics look just fine to me...:dunno:

No it's not you sir. Like I said in my first post, it's just me. I simply (for now) prefer the colors I get from the other brands.

I'm actually curious if the Pany MFT cams give the same 'look' as the Oly.

Panasonic has had terrible trouble getting their color right (recently much, much better), but no, they don't have any look similar to Olympus bodies.

When I'm shooting the same event with the Olympus E-5 and Panasonic DMC-GH3, I find the Olympus color more true, but warmer and the Panasonic color has a more electronic feel, although the white balance differs a lot from frame to frame, even in burst mode shots.

You need to shoot in SAF. Also someone mentioned above that the 17/2.8 is the wrong lens. Totally agree. This lens is first generation tech released with the EP1. It's soft, and slow focussing.

For indoor without flash you'll need a bright prime like the oly 17/1.8 or panasonic 25/1.4. Both of these focus v fast and shooting kids is no problem.

Alternatively. Use flash. Then the 17/2.8 is not such a limiting factor.

Eventually I will get the 1.8 lens. My idea was to get some panning shots. So far i seen the flickr groups, dun really see that kind of shots

Anyway this is only from my own observations. Truth to be told, I really liked the EM-5. I think it's a better camera than the NEX-7 (Did I just stir a hornet's nest with that statement? ). It's definitely more fun to shoot. Pity really that I don't like the output I'm getting. Once I figure out the magic formula, I'm sure I can't resist getting one again...

Thanks for trying to explain though I can't see the brown-ness u mentioned. The white t-shirt in the Legoland was perfectly white to me.
