You should invest in a Sony alpha a230 for only $699 with kit lens.

Great start for beginers

erm btw i checked in this forum people are like selling Sony alpha a230 for like close to 1k.

Nikon doesn't really have many outstanding P&S cameras IMO. I highly recommend the Fuji EXR200 or the Canon Powershot S90.

hmm the preview give good comments.. haha will consider add into list so when go walk those shops can try. :bsmilie:

+1,these are the 2 best pns imo you can find right now,S90,superb in low light,f2 is amazing,it's better than my 17-50 haha

EXR f200,tried it at Sitex, blown away by the colour, built wise quite solid

Canon Powershot A series with PASM is a good camera to start up with.
However, if you are looking to practise shoot pictures with shallow DOF, get a entry DSLR is much better.

heh cartman is sony's camera a good ideal camera? ;p

Sony's P&Ses cater mainly to youths, females and lifestyle people with their trendy designs and bright colors.

If you are looking for an investment into a solid P&S, go the Ricoh route.

More specifically, the Ricoh GX100 for second-hand or the Ricoh GRD III for its prime lens.

i still dont get your point..

u want a cheap , small and good camera or what?

or you a DSLR?

compact lar... not a DSLR now. :(
Follow my recommendation, Canon powershot A series.
Go look out for models with PASM, most have it but not all. zoom ranges from 3x all the way to 6x. Or look at the S series if u want more zoom.
G11/LX3 is another good choice to start with, and you can play with flashes also.

S90 would be a good one!

Get a film camera then. Good and cheap.
