Any Pentax body roadmap?

Go for 17-70mm. You will be surprised how perfect the range is.;)

Hi
The 18-50 is a constant speed f/2.8 while the 17-70 is somewhat similar to the kit lens. I was under the impression a constant speed camera would be better? Otherwise at 70mm, our aperture is at a slow f4.5?
cheers

Yes, while the constant f2.8 on the 18-50mm is very handy to have, f4.5 is not too bad either for daylight walkaround lens. If you shoot a lot of indoors/weddings, the Sigma 18-50mm will be a better choice.

As for the Sigma 17-70, it will be a better choice for outdoor shoots.

Correct me if I wrong, but F2.8 does not mean good. It depends on the sharpness & any CA. F2.8 just means can take in lower light.

I guess it is good for situation like wedding shots in the house, at the ballroom/restaurant, mood shots with low lights and night shots?
I might be wrong.... still learning from scratch....

I read most pentax photographer will use the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG EX macro:)

If I'm invited as a backup to do a wedding day shots, I'll go buy that lens too lol

It's possible but there is still no substitute for a good flash. Pick what you need the most. Lowlight indoor lens or good range walkaround lens?

I hope Pentax could correct the PTTL exposure of AF-540. Quite troublesome to set +1EV everytime I what to use bounce card:(

It’s normal. The flash doesn't know the distance of the wall you are bouncing off so you gotta set compensation.

But after some testing, I wish there'll be a +2 EV max, and not just +1 EV.

But 24mm not wide enought leh...that is why prefer wide 18mm and a x3 zoom at 50mm rather than 24-70mm.
I logically conclude that a constant f/2.8 is not easy to do which is why such lenses tend to be more expensive and heavier too. So that being the case, they will also make the lens better as well. Its like premium 98. we know we pay more but do not need the extra octane if our car can run on 91. To justify the higher price, fuel companies reserve their "special stuff" like fuel booster ,etc for their 98 fuels only. That way you will still feel shiok about paying more for 98...right conclusin?;)

A f2.8 zoom lens is hard to do, but it's easy to make a bad one. Just because a lens is f2.8 all the way doesn't mean it's good.

IMHO as a backup wedding photographer, you don't really need to take that much of a wide shots. Sigma 24-70mm EX is quite a good lens in f2.8 cat:)
