nice shot.. currently wad i can do with low lighting i m using the default flash.. wondering if i should get a external flash.. will it help alot?

yes it will definitely help;)

thanksss ... any recommendation for 3rd party one.. or cheaper alternative... probably 100 - 150? canon 450d

Am I correct to assume you are using 1/10 with flash ?

If so, you do need to read more about shutter speed, and using flash before you even buy a flash

nice i like this.. been trying so many shots on night shot.. but result is not very fantastic... to keep the image sharp and clear.. tend to use M mode.. with shutter setting 1/10 and F5.6 .. with flash on dim lighting such as dempsey..

yes.. should it be slower or ?? i noe it should have a longer exposure time but it tends to be blurred..

You are starting with the wrong info. Flash shortens the exposure time, meaning you can use very fast shutter speed. Well, if you google it, you will find many tips on flash photography, find the basic one first.

For hands-on, in the meantime, set your shutter speed to the fastest your digital camera can support with flash.

Without changing shutter speed in M mode:

1. Just change aperture 1 stop up or down, shoot with flash. Study your picture, learn ....
2. Repeat No. 1, keep learning, try to understand

actually i did learn frmo the most basic by using its night potrait function..but even so.. its shutter time is 4" .. which is far too long for me to hold steadily..~! but thanks for ur comment... setting to 1/2000 wun it be a overkill but thanks will try out tonite!

As I implied earlier, there are limits to the speed you can use with a flash, depending on camera. Your camera, according to info from Google, has a sync speed of 1/200. This means that is the maximum you can go when using flash. That should be enough to prevent your shake I hope, at least from about 150mm focal length and below.

You don't need to wait for night to try, man, just find a dark room, maybe your storeroom

Since this is the Portraits section, you can go to General or Newbies sections if you need more technical info ... and we'll wait for your pictures here ... maybe you are a master once you learn it, who knows ?
