Personally, I don't quite like the design of the multi-controller. I get the strange feeling that the joy-stick knob is somehow missing. :(
In any case, I don't think there's any point in putting the multi-controller on the grip since the grip is most useful in the vertical position and that's the position that the LCD display is least useful in for viewing purposes.

Oops! I meant the joystick... thought it was called the multi-controller....
;)

Here are a couple of pics of the 10D and the 20D with their respective battery grips for visual comparison:

The 10D grip is actually slightly bigger than the 20D grip but is flushed with the 10D body at one side whereas with the 20D, there is a 'waist' where the grip meets the body at the same side. Maybe this is what some users are unhappy about. However, if you don't look carefully, there does not seem to be much differences between the 2 cameras with their respective grips attached. The feel and balance is also very similar. So if you are comfortable with the 10D and grip combination, you would be just as comfortable with the 20D and grip. That's my impression anyway.

thx a million for providing the screenies! :D picture speaks a thousand words :) Just called up ap n mscolor and both still have no idea when the stocks will come in... :(

Just needed some opinions...

Do you guys get the BG-E2 to make the camera 'more stable' and easy to handhold? Especially when you own heavier lenses like the f/2.8 zooms?

On its own, I quite like the 20D's size... not exactly puny but yet not gigantic like the 1D Mk II. (I don't own heavy L's.) I find adding the grip just adds more weight and bulk without extra purpose to my shooting. Problem fitting into my cam bag too unless I always detach the lens. Have gotten used to holding vertical shots without grip already.

Btw, just an experience. A friend and I went down to MS Color a few days ago and was told my a guy there (Ken) that the grip for 20D (he wanted to buy it) is identical to the 10D!! My friend was so happy (cos he nor I didn't know the model of the 10D's grip). Asked Ken can it fit AA batts too? He gave a very firm Yes and sounded so convincing. Somehow I felt something was amiss.

Heng... didn't take his word! What's the diff anyway in the 2 grips?

The vertical grip for 10D is a tad larger than the grip for 20D hence canon had to make a smaller grip for the 20D. Size difference. 10D's grip wun fit into 20D :)

Wow... that's S$362.
more expensive than ordering from the States.
Since HK prices are usually the same or lower than Singapore's for camera accessories, the local price for the grip when it's eventually available would not be any better, right? :o
