Any FD fans out there?

If ur adaptor is just a piece of metal, then there is no af confirmation.

To have it you need a chip glued on to the adaptor, to sort of trick the camera into thinking there is some electronics in the lens.

The chip isnt cheap though.

Its quite a shame because nikon bodies themselves doesnt require it.

So for AF confirmation, you gotta do a DIY job?

Any manual Nikkor (or FD) macro lenses that are a good bang for buck?

You can make the chip yourself if you are train in IC stuff.

You can fix on if you are proficient.

Otherwise you can just buy an adaptor pre fixed with it.

Most Manual primes give very good value.:)

Im organising a nikkor MF outing sometime.. canon users welcomed too as i will bring along the adaptor with chip as well. You can come for the sharing session.

The sharing session is here:

although now i use nikon dslr and RF , i use to shoot w T90 and ae-1 p , 3 lens, 50mm,28mm,70-210mm . But now the t90 and those metal lens quite heavy to carry around.... :D especially when mount the 70-210mm on t90, my hand worn out fast...

Bump...

Nobody?

Anyhow, I'm still looking for suggestions on sourcing FD gear locally, aside from the Peninsula-Adelphi-Peninsula triangle and the Buy/Sell section here.

Cheers

I use the FD system too. I have 2 black AE1, 2 chrome AE1P, 50mm f1.4 lens and the 28mm lens. I find that the 50mm f1.4 is a good performer. It produces nice, saturated colors.

Metering yes. Canon EOS meters with ALL lens, including nikon, pentax, contax, leica blah blah...

But AF confirmation to be done only with the AF confirmation chip on the adaptor which cost an additional ~$80.

However do note that due to the distance of lens away from the sensor, it requires an adaptor with a glass to redirect light to all you to focus at infinity.

I doubt any manufacturer would spend alot of having a very high end glass there. Thus it is just like having an expensive and high end lens with a lousy cheap scratched filter, defeats the purpose.

That stopped me from collecting FD mount lens.

Have you seen this?

He claims that this adapter will not only allow Nikon lenses to be mounted on Canon and get metering and af confirmation he also says NON-AI nikon lenses can be mounted on Canon with his adapter? wow! anyone used this before? comes direct from China.

And another adapter here for only $7.99 but this one doesn't sound so hot, no mention of the af confirmation here, not even sure if the metering will be there on this on canon bodies?
