I adopted a 1.5yrs old male maltese. ya that dog which i mentioned have no tail.
Yesterday afternoon i went to the westie owner house to choose the puppy. When on the way home, my friend call me and said his friend willing to let go his dog to me. Must take asap due to he move house, the new area too quiet,, a single dog bark can hear very clearly. imagine he have 13 dogs so quite stress out. So i went to take .. is not because just a couple of hundreds. Is because i like the dog when i see him, a poor little who was always in the playpen. Actually before that, there are someone who willing to give me her 4 mths old male maltese and 2 yrs old female maltese. But due to no connection, i did not take either of them. I adopted this dog because i think he really deserve much more love and freedom.
imagine last night when i got him home. He roam around the house from 11pm to 7am non stop.. as if no need to sleep. never hear him cry.. so i think he is too happy can just run around freely. But then he fell down a few times between the kitchen and living room as there is a single stair. so everytime he was either stuck at the kitchen dare not walk up a stair or stuck in the living room dare not walk down a stair.
Today and tmr i will be taking half day afternoon to see company him.

he got problem walking up and down a stair leh.
The 1st day I brought him home.. he was so happy and run around non stop. and Never aware there is a 10cm stair between kitchen and living room. he just happen Fly out to kitchen. I thought is a miss Q.. then he run again.. fly out again.. then i realise he dun know how to walk up and down a stair. Yesterday i managed to teach him walk up the stair. But when he want to go kitchen, got stuck again..
This morning woke up at 4am.. play with him abit, tried to teach him to walk down. Initially have quite a few good try. Then too happy when i just turn and want to get him a treat as reward. He flew out again.. look painful -___- .. guess in the meantime.. he need sometimes to forget to "fly" experience.
And also, Dun know why he dun pee and poo infront of us leh. There are a few times, when i put him in the playpen, off the light and walk away. 20min later walk back, saw him pee and poo liao. This morning also same same. I put him in the playpen and went for shower. When i am back, he poo liao.
Then last night, i tried to enclose him in the kitchen without playpen see if he can pee on the paper. Miss Q leh.. pee outside the paper -____-... please give me advise how to train him.
And, i realise him urine very yellowish thou. he is on dry food now. Bought a big packet from his owner. This morning, I put some glucose in his water.
All of you give your dog dry food?

I did not sleep well too.. -___-.. 1st night i slept 2 hrs only. then last night manage to sleep 4 hrs wake up and 2 hrs

This morning i put him in the kitchen .. give him another chance see if he poo and pee on the newspaper -____- if i go back same thing happen.. i think hmmm.. put him in the playpen when i am away for work .. but that's 10 hrs. Do you guys think is ok?
But then he is so scare to walk the step down to kitchen, in the middle of the night still struggle to go down twice to urine.. actually is quite good boy right..
Don't know 1.5yrs old can still train or not. Do you guys have friend that is trainer can teach me how to train an adult dog?

I tried to teach him keep pointing to him pee .. poo.. but he dun do that infront of me leh... or when i go shower..come out he poo liao.. very fast.. :dunno:
hahaha buy u toy ah? I send u a PM show u something u might like. As for the toilet train thing u got pee tray n newspaper for him? They got some liquid where u drop a little on to the newspaper for him to smell, so tat he knows where to pee, there's also a stinky spray to spray on palces to deter him from peeing or pooing there. I've tried it on my dog.it works but then later on, once he show attitude, he will do it anywhere!

Haze, the initial part is always tough, and the word to retrain a adult dog is "Patience" and with :heart:
When you are home, if possible remove the playpen, and overlay the wet/dirty newspaper with fresh one, basically this is to encourage him to return to the same spot for this 'business'
Keep an eye on him every mintue/second if possible, if you managed to catch him pee or poo at the correct spot, reward him verbally(ex. "good boy" !) and with some treats that he crave for when he is done with the business.
Otherwise drag or pull him onto the paper even when is doing his 'business' half way.
As time goes he will understand the message you're trying to put across to him.

but lease i am quite fussy.. i want to find a real nice one for rascal
.. since it was for long term usual keke... Yesterday Rascal so good boy.. all his pee and poo was done on newspaper. I want to buy a Big Plastic tray to put newspaper for him to do business. Currently i am using a stainless steel tray. everytime see him when get excited will knock against it and fell.. so heart pain.
But he still dare nto go to kitchen
.. last night when we were asleep he did nto pee leh. When i wake up.. quickly bring him to kitchen.. block the door.. walk away.. then he pee -____- weird Rascal.
Now another problem is.. his eating habit is super suxk.. 2-3spoons of dry food take the WHOLE day to eat.. i feed he play and put aside.. i feed he play and put aside.. then when i clean his teeth liao then he eat... :angry: .. but better then dun eat
.. Yesterday, i bought Lactose free milk for him. He really love it... but i just feed alittle i scare his body might not able to take it .. slowly will increase abit more

.. last night, i caught him pee, i just quietly hide one side... he saw me jump out of the newspaper with urine stain on his legs -____-.. i did not make sound, he just jump out quickly approach me.. male dog so shy meh kekeek. i still got to off the light to let him pee and poo..
