yes of course DSLR is much better. problem is i mostly end up leaving my DSLR at home (due to its size and weight) and shooting with my P&S instead, even when i travel overseas.
hence my best photographs were usually taken by compact cameras.

Photographic memory Composition, angle, subject and the lighting to create the mood is what I go for. My P&S can do that too, when it can't do that I will change my idea to suite what it can do with very good and surprising results. It makes me think of of the box and try new technics. Ultimately Its still the man behind the camera who makes the photo.
