We have NiMH for normal AA battery, how about Li-Ion ?
it should be lighter & higher capacity than normal NiMH AA battery

In Singapore, lithium-ion batteries are only sold in special packages for notebook/handphone batteries, not in standard sizes. Think it is due to some law about selling lithium-ion batteries.

Don't think there's any AA Li-on rechargable battery anywhere.

From what I read, lithium has higher voltage, thus not possible at the moment to come out with 1.5v AA lithium rechargeable (edited). Furthermore, lithium is very sensitive to charger, if charge improperly (wrong circuit/charger), it might explode easily.

Nothing to do with the law.

I'm no expert, so take this with the requisite grain of salt:

Lithium AA batteries are (or used to be) available, but they are single use and very expensive. The advantage is that they last decades on the shelf, have pretty good capacity and have low internal resistance. They are also surprisingly light.

Lithium-ION batteries require VERY strict charging environments. That's why they all come with proprietary smart chargers. There is a very good chance of destroying a Li-ion battery if charged incorrectly, or even of it exploding.

so if any of the manufactur release a AA lit-ion rechargerable battery that bundle with special charger (like GP) I guess everyone over here who their cam eat AA will go and buy. Lighter yet last longer.

the 2 lithium batt.( not rechargeable) that comes with my oly cam is really very good
it last very very long and it weigh alot lesser compared to AA batt

U can still buy non-rechargeable AA lithium from Energizer, but the price is about 4x the alkaline one.

cost miught be a concern. if the batteries plus chargers cost 3 times as much but provide only 50% more power, consumers might not get them.
