omg... the cheapest price i saw in comex is E520 with 14-42 + 40-150 at only 1099 with free 2nd batt and other freebie and oso can buy FL36R at 99.

Good deal for who brought during the last day on sales.

wah... was quite "shocked" when see the price.

I bought a Transcend 32gb CF card... i wonder the E-3 can read a not... haven't open... if cannot, i will not open the packaging, rather sell away...

If anyone is interested in getting the E3, best to go to AP. I went to Comex and wasn't quite impressed with the package that they offered there. By chance, I was browsing the AP website and they are having a promo too! It's 1K difference in price and very similar freebies!!! :o

What's going on there? Without much hesitation, I went to AP and bought the camera - no regrets :D

Shouldn't have any problems using a 32GB CF... there is no format change unlike SD going to SDHC... so it should work... even my old E-1 is using 8GB CF cards. But you should do some research if you want to be safe... How much did you pay for it? I am thinking of using it as a portable harddisk... 32GB is a lot of storage space.

$99 for FL-36R? I wonder what is the profit margin on these things... but I have my mind set on the Metz...

We was thinking whether to buy HyperDrive Colourspace O 250GB or not... pretty good price, $400 in comex ... usual price is about 50 buck diff. Finally we give it a miss.

imagine getting 1 portable harddisk like this, you do not need more then 2 CF card anymore. just transfer as and when you like. 1GB transfer take abt 1 min.

Sounds interesting... but carrying one piece of hardware that size adds to the overall weight of the bag... prefer to use larger solid state card.

Creating another risk, risk of losing all your pictures in that harddisk.

I was about to buy such a device when I first bought my E-3 back in March. I personally do not understand why we need so much storage with additional risks. I would gladly buy 8x 4GB Sandisk Extreme III (how much is one? $50-$60 per CF card?). Yes, in absolute terms, you get only 32GB, but in terms of save keeping your pictures, less losses due to lower probability of damaging all cards in 1 go, unless you lose all.

i think portable hard disk is more suitable for long trips and better in exchanging pics.

Also, when shooting/travelling with frds and esp taking photos for each other, you can save a trip of meeting him/her again in another time. u can get it straight away by selecting the files u want from the memory directly and copying it into the harddisk.

buy 2 ext HD. or 3 if you worry so much. :bsmilie:
my ammo is 3 2gb cf card, 1 1gb cf card, and 1 ext HD capable of direct transfer.

Used to have another set of 4 2gb card until I lost it (or someone stole it from me) :dunno:
Anyway I am not a pro so losing some picture due to HW malfunction is bad but not the end of the world or my rice bowl.

I will worry more about you shooting 250GB of stuff than the 250GB of stuff being lost.

you have some point there, but think about it... everything we purchase/do will definitely come with risk.take street shot or candid shot come with risk too. Even our hdd at home might break down anytime, are we suppose to buy 4x250GB if we want 1TB space? :dunno:

buying 1 hd with photo viewer also enable us to share picture during gathering, just like one of the thread you posted, you mention, y spend so much and do nothing about it.

imagine having a Colourspace O, we can share 20GB of PP picture with everyone, Dont think you want to use your cam to do it.

Yes weight is there, personally feel more pro then con... no need to invest in anymore Memory card :)

Solid-state hard drives (like the ones on the Macbook Air) are just a few years away...

Or you can place a military contract and buy the military use 320GB Solid State Drive (I wonder how much it cost?)

I think some of us (not me though) could afford that, but I suspect something like that will be entry-level stuff in a couple of years or so.

Things trickle down from military to civilian use... just a matter of time... hope we don't have to wait for toooooooo long. Solid State Drives are such a blessing.

How long did it take the first multi GB SSD to trickle in?

Helped my friend buy E-520 - Twin Kit lens with FL-36R and other regular freebies for S$1254.00.

I was told the price S$1099.00 is without the S$99.00 offer for FL-36R.

My friend was initially aiming for Sony A-350. So convinced him to buy Olympus :D
