They're tricked to sign some "contract" requiring them to buy the extended warranty. After paying the initial "reasonable" price they are forced to pay an additional amount for the warranty portion otherwise the shop will not release the phone to them.

Our Tourism Board should not list Sim Lim Square as a place to shop for tourist. Having known of past problems there and not taking harsher actions, STB indirectly encouraging the shops to continue to run their business there.

Tourist don't come just to buy iphone.

i had not visit Sim Lim Square for a very long time for this reason, Singapore got so many shops to buy electronic goods, i rather go for better customer service with a peace of mind

Theres actually a fake Facebook page that goes by the name of SMRT Ltd (Feedback). Its a pretty good read to kill some time. they are doing a special feature on the handphone shop owner.

I go there frequently for the PC components stuff. That's what SLS is famous for. Not for buying cameras, phones or audio/video stuff. For those, there are other better bargain places.

For PC related shops, there are black sheeps too. Anyway online stores eg. newegg, lazada, are giving SLS retailers a run for their money. They need to realise this soon and buck up.

Best is to just go to SLS for PC components. There are many other places for electronics that you can go to for a way easier and comfortable shopping experience at not much higher of a price.
