Another overpriced shop @ Sim Lim

sounds like what my friend gone thru 2 months back... simlim photo shops alot "tok" ppl :angry:

ITs a dog eat dog world.... I have a friend ever cheat SLS before also, he power because he did his homework very well... that Sales Beng very guailan but didn't do homework.... Anyone uses Sony Camcorder knows that the most expensive NP-QM91D cost around at least $220. But this sales beng just shoot without thinking, 195... there is no one in the shop, guess the shop owner went to lunch... then my friend bargain with him and got 2 pieces of Original Sony NP-QM91D for $380. Then my friend pay the money and quickly go away... and later while he was at the Burlington Square BK having a drink and celebrating his rare victory, he saw this sales "Beng" running out of SLS and looking frantically for someone... hahahhahahaha
Sony Listed Price $292.00, the best offer I ever got is $230.00... my friend got 2 for $380... what a steal!

i'm posting this thread to warn other fellow photographers about a shop at Sim Lim Sq.

I had an experienced very recently with a corner shop at the 1st storey of Sim Lim Sq(near the bubble lifts)< Quite obvious it is a Camera shop

I bought a wireless remote from them and only to found out 3 days later that i'm over priced by 4times.

I went down with the recommended price printed from the camera's official website. What the guy can do is just say that they import from Japan. I asked for prove and he decline. Just say that they import and selling at that price, they are losing money.

Going down to CASE and blacklist them...

Lesson learnt. Check price before going out to buy.

almost got cheated when buying a Canon A700. was offered 390 for it when the original price was 569. that's when things started getting fishy..

E shop is quite big, not the name tat u mention. MAybe such shops keep changing names to cover up?

i dunno about nikon's pricing for their stuffs but minolta's remote cord is about $60 for a new orginal one.

Do check out prices at a few places b4 committing anything.

Song bro is getting competitive, but depend on the sales person. Some of their items are priced ridiculously while some are cheaper than the above mention shops.

Photocam at peninsula is ok, look for andrew. Got my tripod at $170 from him where CP and AP quoted me $255++

Agree! song brothers is getting more competitive as long as ur on good terms with the sales man. Song brothers like shops like cathay buy their things in bulks of 100s to 1000s thus have economies of scale. The other time i heard song brothers bought 100 pieces of canon XL2 camera??? btw Song brothers have some sub-shops and there the services are more personal the one i frequent is Ga-2000 on 2nd floor sls. But when looking for things like tripod avoid the funan centre branch their prices are significantly higher......

BTW you know out of the 2 Song Brother shop front in SLS Sony apparently only "licenced" one of the shop to sell the alpha?
