Another New DSLR coming soon?

Anyway, I was reading some recent Photography Mag, and every one of them have this AD:
One page : EOS 50D EOS 5D mark II - Make photography new again, another page (immediately behind) : A new Canon Experience .... Coming Soon.

Is Canon telling us something? Is 1DM4 coming soon?

I saw that ad too. But my first impression is that these cameras (esp 5DII) was not available at the moment during the printing of the magazine. So its like telling ppl they are coming soon.

so far...the D300 is very tempting for me due to its 50+ focus points and high ISO performance as well as price drop. Now thats something practical i can use for a sub SG$2k budget.

Canon needs something exciting for the SG$2k range. Hope they do come out what the people want.

budget full frame!!!! Heard Nikon is coming out with one.

might be a 60D?

It'll be replaced in a year's time, so that's about Aug/Sep 2009.

Honestly, this is getting silly. I can also tell you Canon is going to make announcements in Jan/Feb and Aug/Sep 2009. So, there'll always be new DSLRs coming... :bsmilie:

It's good, new things keep coming and improving, it can only be good to us consumers.:)
But like the IT market, cannot stop techonology improvement, its an unstoppable train! :bsmilie:Bring the new stuff on!

They have gained and is highly successful with the "budget" market ie 5DMk2.

They are losing market in the hi-end professional market for quite a while (look at the recent Olympics).
The Nikon D3 is and upcoming D3X is brilliant, and leading the class. The Sony has already hit 24MP. The 1DM3 is infamous and paled in comparision. Even the 1Ds3 seem "outdated" on paper specs compared to Sony and Nikon.
They are slipping ground in their flagship camera market share with the 1D series so badly for a while now, we can forget about a even lower budget FF anyttime soon, not with the budget 5d2 selling like mad so recently.
They cannot lose the hi-end market, they lose pros who spend big money in their lens and systems (read 400mm, 500mm, 600mm etc).
They have techno for sensors up to 50MP. They really want to establish themselves as the market leader with the new flagship, again.

Camera evolution update (upgrade path to DIGIC IV generation) -
xx series ie 50D - check
Semi-pro series ie 5D2 - check
500D - pending
1d4/ 1Ds4 - pending

So can we guess what the new Canon camera will be? No prize for right answer. To me its either the 1D4 or the 1Ds4 coming out, the only question is which one first.

Don't you even know there's a CANON closeup filter named 500D? And you are saying pending for 500D?? Hmmm...

maybe they're gonna start using centre pinch lens caps. :D
i've got no money for a dslr but i'd sure love better lens caps.

i think its going to be called ...........

wait for it....

Canon 1E !!! and they are going to stop 1D and 1Ds range..

Full frame with high FPS high ISO and more more more even a centre pinch cap...

Its called D3. :)

my dream FF...

sub SGD$2K
Sub 500gram ( i really can't bear to lug a 5D around on trips)
Lens AF adjustment
3 inch VGA quality screen
Big viewfinder
Anything from 12Mp onwards
ISO performance to match D700

Anything else is okay with me. Even 1 FPS. In fact, if you look at it, camera technology has really mature to make this offering EXTREMELY feasible. It's just who will start offering it.

My bet is canon.

And i'll seriously pair it with a tamron 28-75 or a 50mm F1.4

A cheap lethal combo tat takes wonderful pics. Tat's the way photography should be. Not paying 5K for a FF body + another 2.1K for a 24-70L.

Well an FF for about $2k...hmm...hope users don't complain about the quality or weather sealing. And maybe error 100 (New error. Haha.)

Take care.

GMAN

hmm. why didnt anyone talked abt new lenses (particularly primes) instead?

The key is "new experience", like video in DSLR is a new experience......so what is this new experience? A "new buying experience"?:bsmilie:

gimme the ability to command multiple flashes with a popup flash, that would be good...
anyway 1d, 3d, 5d, 7d or whatsoever, need to stike 4d then can talk..hah
