After an intensive 2 week research reviewing the FZ5 and comparing it with the Canon S2 I.S. I finally bought the FZ5 at AP today.

if you do a search, i actually stated my reasons in a number of posts here but for your benefit, the canon IS2 was my only other choice. the minolta z5 did not have stabilisation and optics reported not as good. the fz5 scores over the canon price (almost $300 cheaper), smaller size, better optics, better stablisation, better image quality. what it lost is no vga recording...i can live with that!

hmm i'm having problems using the S mode. shutter mode to take people in action. like ppl playin soccer.
anybody care to share any pointers?

shoot above 1/125 in broad daylight to freeze time.. if too dark use higher iso..

Fast shutter speed. Use Continuous Auto Focus. When image comes into focus, press the shutter release fully.
Might wanna consider burst mode too.
