I believe that this is nothing new in the forum but I have to raise the issue again.

I have contacted this seller this morning at around 3am, mind you the timing. After so many sms till 4am, we have finally strike a deal. We will meet up at noon to transact.

Who knows, just before transaction, he sms to tell me that someone has offered him a higher price, and the deal has to be cancelled. ;(

What can I do in this kind of situation? He is the seller, he has the right to sell to whoever he wants to, right? So I really LL. Next, I asked him the question about Integrity. Guess what he said? Price(cash) outweighs integrity. He will sell to that higher bidder. This bring me to think that integrity is worthless. Who cares? Money is all you care. Sian...

Sad to say that, I have finally encountered this kind of deal after so many years. To all those up there, you will definitely meet one one of these days, hopefully you will not, so pray hard.

I am not here to create a fuss out of it. Just a comment on Integrity issue. Don't commit if you have not sure, etc. Don't create hope for others and then trash it away. Don't waste each other time. :nono:

how much is integrity per gram nowadays in the market? last time i encountered one of these idiots he was worth 4 rolls of b/w film.

also ask urself...if at the last minute u got another deal of the same priduct at a much cheaper price? would u dump the first guy or ask him to reduce his original selling price?

if not, good for ya!

Too bad you met up with a seller who does not know what integrity is. :(
Seems these days quite a few would renegade on their words.
I recently sold a lens for $250 to a student...was sure it was in good working condition.
After the sale .. was notified the lens was faulty.
Met up and found to be true..wanted to refund..but the buyer wanted the lens badly.
So I took it to the agent to have it fixed for $180 :what: ...at no cost to the buyer.
He was happy...so am I. :)

?
I thought cash was supposed to be long gone ?

welcome back CASH! Nope, CASH still lingers every now and then in CS.

So how's life, CASH?

mmm... ruthbaby maybe dats why he sell it at $200 cheaper to u.. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Hahahah, no lah, there is no reason not to like USM's dealing ways. He is very straightforward and also very gentlemanly also. Thats why both of us hit off very well after only 1 transaction and became friends. He is rather open with his sales and not shady with his pricing. Its a yes or no go from his side. Like ruthbaby, he sold me his item despite someone else offering him $50 more, all becos we verbally agreed before the other party did.

There is no need to be angry over a failed transaction.

For all you know, you might have reject the goods after seeing the stuff. Then what? He would have lost a potential buyer who is willing to pay more. Worst, you might have bought something that is defective.

How much different is the price you offered and his selling price? It might be a big amount and this amount might be important to him.

To someone, taking $50 less may be a small issue. However, to someone who need the cash, $50 is enough for him to go over the edge.

Just forget about the whole episode and be happy.

My 2 frames worth...

Heng I havent met such buyers/sellers yet :) Anyway, with regards to the tdaytc and coolzzz, I thought NTU requires a students to pass the English proficiency test before allowed entry? :blah: Wonder what new nicks he has got now

I sympathise with your situation. It must be terribly frustrating for you. Especially more so since you trade with integrity and professionalism as reaffirmed by people like ruthbaby.

I'd like to say that you should hold true to your beliefs and philosophies. Do not lower yourself to that level and practise tit for tat, it will only make things worse overall.

Have faith that what goes around comes around. The chap who screwed you up (pardon my french) will have his day too. He may then realise how it feels to pull something like that.

I have met people here with high levels of integrity too, I take my hat off to them all and I will certainly return the kindness to them should we trade again. (what goes around comes around too)

I never consider a sale done until it is actually done. :) You must not expect everyone to deal as fairly as you.

Hi all and moderators,

i am sad to hear the $20 case. This is reallly too much. As for the last minute no sale one, at least no loss is involved. Only opportunity is lost. Not too bad as the first one.

I urge the moderators not to take up the hall of fame or the blacklisting method. The reason is that the moderators are also hearing the story only, we cannot be sure who is telling the truth even if the story is quite real and reasonable. The moderators have to be impartial when being the judge. We should use the general way the law works : "Unless proven beyond doubt with evidences, the accused should not be sentenced" This is quite unfair but how do we be sure the moderators did not sway their heart aftering hearing a touching story. So we need evidence to base every blacklisting of members. Howevver, this is not possible with the limited manpower. So i strongly urge that we do not take the easy bulldozer way out.

Buyers and sellers must change their mindset that unless full cash and goods are exchanged, the sale is not considered close. A second higher bidder , a second lower seller and someone short of $20 are all some reasons why sale cannot close. THe buyer and seller must also take note that the trip down to see the goods is part of the investment and as any investment, the spent money and time on the trip can still resulted in no sale.

I personally have a really bad experience in another forum with blacklisting. It is the bob.com.sg forum. My cousin used my hp to bid for a game, he is just a teenager, but last minute withdraw his bid. This is because he is almost paying the price of a new xbox game and his friend had decided to lend it to him. You know what? the seller call him up and shouted over the phone, on my hp, threatening that he will blacklist him because he is a moderator. At the end, he blacklisted my cousin nickname and placed my hp beside it. The bad experience is that he did not check whose number it is and the second thing is that by doing so, he actually publish my number openly, intruding my privacy. Assumig he had gotten the number correct, can you accept that a seller goes around telling any people your personal hp number after an unsuccessful deal? This is not acceptable and i am sure it is something which i can take up legal action against the forum's moderator. But then i can't afford the legal fees and so got to live with it

dude you can just make a police report or ask the police for advice about this...at least, if they ever try to haunt you, you got back up.

You're waiting for a taxi at the roadside for a while already

Finally you decide to call for a cab

Taxi company finally tells you that so and so taxi will be en-route ETA so and so minutes

While waiting, an empty cab drives by

Do you wait for the cab or hail the empty cab (and save on the booking charges?)

It sounds off-topic, but if you can't see the train of thought behind it, then...... bash away.
