Just to inquire, do we need to switch on "half way press IBIS" to enable IBIS? Or switching off will also enable IBIS only when you click the shutter?

When it's on, u will see IBIS stabilizing the image the moment shutter button is half-pressed, this helps u to focus easier when shooting macro or using long lens or when focusing in magnified view. If it's off, IBIS will only stabilize image when shutter is fully-depressed, u won't see the stabilizing effect. I like to have it on to reduce stress on my eyeballs :bigeyes: .... but it drains more juice from battery :hung:

Yup....can testify that with v1.5, humming sound is gone. Although u can hear the IS working when u move the camera. With 1.3, the humming sound is still there.

Not sure if Olympus Service centre will help to upgrade firmware. I have been trying to download the firmware on my Em-5 but always failed.
Still in 1.1verison. Haiz....

The download from their server is really wanky.

It takes about 15-20 min. Have patience. And make sure your battery is full when you start.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Updated mine from 1.1 to 1.5, took less than 15min total to complete the upgrade (im using mac). Will observe in a couple of usage if battery lifes really improves.

Still in 1.1verison. Haiz....

Make sure you have high speed broadband. Better if you have fibre broadband. The file size for ver 1.3 and 1.5 is about 50mb each. Even on my cable modem with 50mbps, it took about 15-20 mins to download.

Then, make sure you are on Olympus software updater ver 1.03

Humming sound is very loud when you half press the shutter using the EVF .. goes away with the release of the button .. I could hear it on the street while shooting using the EVF

Only when you use the EVF?

The sound is present whether if you use EVF or the LCD .. because of the closeness when you focus using EVF .. the sound is right next to your ear

Seriously? You all can actually hear the humming sound?
I must be old liao, ears lousy. I can only hear the humming sound when I press my ears against the camera, or in a dead silent room.

At least that's ONE good thing about growing old.
