How come I posted the same thing and kanna lock? Very sad.

But so far no lots of sale on the 1Ds Mk2 or I too blind to see?

You asked "why", when the answer was pretty obvious. ;)

Maybe I phase it wrongly. But the mod close it because you all kopitiamize the thread.

Must put comment.. Don't kopitiamize my thread else it will be closed.

Question: Is it true the sensor for the 40D is the same one found in 400D since both are 10MP cameras?

I believe that it is a different sensor... a Digic III....

Found this from shutterbug.com:
"Although it is based on the image sensor used in the EOS Digital Rebel XTi, the EOS 40D Digital SLR’s 10.1-megapixel CMOS APS-C size image sensor has been significantly improved thanks to the use of larger microlenses over each pixel to reduce noise and expand sensitivity up to ISO 3200."

Not to be a spoil spot ladies and gentlemen, but do all these help to improve your pictures? Whether you're holding a 30D or a 40D will make you a better photographer?

This has always been brought up in discussions like this.

For great photographers, even a Compact DC in their hands can give great photos.

For the general amateurs, perhaps holding a good camera makes them feel shiok, and thus their happy mood could result in good photos. Note that this comment does not apply to all though.

Bro, cannot say like dat one. This kind of food for thought or argument has been around for so long but I find they lead to no where. Here's why...

1. People are getting affluent. Buying of cams need not always be about taking good pictures. It's about feeling good you own something new or latest itself. I think 1-2 years ago, the papers featured this guy who constantly buys new digital stuffs: mobile, cams, PDAs, etc. You name it, he has the latest!

Even if a miliionaire brandishes a 1Ds Mk3 in front of your face but takes lousy pics, who are we to say Wake up! Ur pictures suck! He will tell you he earns 8 times the amount he paid for the cam in one month!

2. We are worldly creatures. We get tempted. It's like telling the ladies, you put on so much make up for what. Why buy the latest bags or own so many types of shoes. Why wear so many diamonds. U are you. But humans are not like that. Gosh, if that happens, I think it will give shopping a totally differnt meaning altogether!

3. "Cameras themselves don't make a good photographer" is a pointless argument. Many times I hear people say, if you are good, even if using a pnS cam, he or she can produce top pics. It's really not a fair argument. Then might as well everyone owns kit lenses or buy pnS. Think about it... Do you really need say a 6MP or 8MP in the first place? How many often print A3 or larger? Or how many even bother printing A4 often? 3MP will do. Then let's all go back to using a Canon D30!

Then we go back to the first point I made above.. Got money BUY! It's a circular argument. So buying expensive cams or newer models have nothing to do with taking nice pics itself. It's a combination of worldly wants and getting the latest cos you simply want to keep up. Never mind what the end result is.

 I agreed with you. Just like Handphone how many of us really use all or even 50% of the function found in the handphone today. Its the combination of wanting to have it and having the money to buy it.

 agree, but but... think HP a cheaper hobby :bsmilie: (i got PDA hahaha )

but think will wait for end of year then get 40D hahaha.....

it doesn't matter the person buy the expensive camera can take good pic or not, we need these ppl to keep the economy growing.... the more they spent, the manufactures earn more, so they can survive, and kep producing lower end of cheap camera for other... hehe

Notice the number of 30Ds for sale last day or so now that 40D is announced.

Think that 20D price is below $900 and 30D $1300. 30D a bit tempting but 40D looks so good......

If 20D 2nd price drops to 1/3 of a new 40D then it is rather worth it to buy and spend the rest of which on lens. Afterall the 8 to 10MP doesnt make a very big difference (still need to see actual images produced though).

For sports shooters, the 6.5FPS is very attractive.. Even nikon current best at 4-5times the price offers only 8.

20D to 30D improvements were quite insignificant, not the least tempting for an upgrade. But the 40D specs seems to offer something real.

Wait wait wait.... If you buy the 40D now, later 5D MKII or 7D come out how??? BBB again :bsmilie: Better to keep what you have now as a backup then buy the new 5D bah...start saving now  Can use the 10-22mm EF-S for Landscape on the 1.6x crop body then the new 5D for the rest la, dont have to change lens and worry about dust liao hahaha.....

Bro, that's why I say, photo-taking is now a way to show-off how good the gears one holds, and not how good the photos they produce. It's now like having a BMW or Merc, but cannot even drive well! I'm sure you can identify many of such drivers on the road.

Heehee...... agree.... that is why getting the basic right is the most important!!

conclusion is... in the end.. it is Canon who GAINs :bsmilie:
