August is not the right time to go to Maldives. The best time to go there is between end November and January.
When South East Asia is having the NE monsoon, that's the best time to go. I have been there 6 times and each time, I am met with very hot and dry climate.

When I went previously in April 07 to Hilton Maldives, it was also hot and dry. August to October is probably not the right time to go but I only had time during this period so not much choice.

I was in komandoo in april 07. i have to agree that the weather is hot and humid at that period of time. spent most of my time in the water to cool down.
Nice to see anantara is a family resort. Komandoo is all couples.

I used to use a film SLR, Nikon FM10 some 15 years back during my younger days so I guess I'm not exactly new to manual settings. However, since I switched to digital, I have always been using digicams so I still need quite a bit of time to get used to DSLRs.

Yup, I know about the slanted horizons but didn't have time to correct those yet. Will be correcting the slanted pics in my collection and posting the corrected ones in due time.

OT - thought you might have had a easier time using a Nikon DSLR - moving between platform is never easy.

SLR and DSLR cameras are totally different though. Anyway, since I switched to digital I have mainly been using Canon digicams.

seeing your pics make me miss Maldives.....went there in Nov 2006 when Ananatara was new...
would like to go back Maldives again....heeheee...next time round, i will target a resort that's further

Yes, you should go to a resort that requires sea plane transfer. Maybe I should post some pics of my Hilton Maldives trip next time.
