From your shots, look like the focus point is behind your subject.

Not sure what cam you are using, but if you can. Switch to spot metering , max the aperature F8 or more to increase the depth of field. Focus lock on the eye of the subject if possible

If you have problem focusing on the subject itself, focus on the anemone where the subject is standing on , half depress to focus lock and then re-compose

the problem that i had was the subject was too small, and colour similar to the background. i couldnt even see it in my lcd display, haha, how to focus.. i was using f8 already. about locking focus, that is something that i going to try also :)

here's one more photo i took with no zoom no macro lens.. cropped la..

waisj, how did you get that bugger to face you? also good that your subject is elevated, creating good DOF.. it was jumping around when i saw it..

Actually yes in a way it quite nice. But since I did not or rather not into this type of photography, I would rather see a good clear pic of it then a few others that are in that manner. Hope you get what I mean.

ya i got your point. would like a better contrast as well, though focussing with critters is my current BIG problem!

Heeee.... :D Go lembeh.... Shoot untill puke blood. :D

take your time mah.. don't rush

try to let the subject settle down before shooting lor, then do half squeeze don't squeeze the shuttle totally, check if subject is in focus then press. if subject is too active, usually i do a focus point then wait for the subject to come into my view.(not very accurate but does work for restless creatures)

using marco lens makes focusing easier if you're within the correct distance. too far then cannot focus. distance is around 5-10cm. then adjust to macro mode and zoom in 3/4 not max. max cannot focus(i tried lah)

er they do sell LCD magnifier wor :) heheheheeheheheh BUY BUY BUY!!! :p

wah, beivied so nice to create a thread for waisj's photos.... i smell conspiracy here :D

beivied, how about starting a thread for me?
