There are lots of flash diffusers out there... some more portable than others. There are flash soft boxes, umbrellas, Gary Fong's photon torpedo, bounce cards, etc. I personally chose the Lumiquest Promax System because I think it offers the most versatility in one package. But I still use the Stofen sometimes because it is more inconspicuous.

buy de thing from vpost damn expensive, this 430exII cost ard 530!!!

You can stick a white card behind the flash head to get some of that Stofen effect like so:

Or get a white PVC to cut out and use rubber band to attach. (I did one some time back using the white PVC backing of a lowepro lens case and lent it to one of the members here - never got it back...).

Or use those translucent milk bottles to fashion a stofen-like top to clip on.

Or simply buy a stofen, they're not that ex anyway and last a lifetime.

The idea behind all these is to diffuse the light from the flash so any method that does that will work.

Personally, I have a stofen for all my flashes (3 of them) and a mini lumiquest softbox for my flash. I've also some homemade flash diffusion attachments - largest being an A4 sized one.

I quite like the DemB diffuser in the Mass Sales.. Currently using a whale tail(fake) as well as the stofen

I have the Omni Bounce. Its throws a whole new 'light' in flash photography for me. Really nice diffuse light making my shots really even. I like it. Glad I bought it together with the flash. Was thinking of getting the flash first and then buy the diffuser on ebay. I would have waited too long for it.

Demb flash diffuser pro looks good, why not give it a go, since you already save $100 buying 430EX II from ebay.

It really depends on many things. If you buy direct from Amazon.com, they usually take about 3 days to pack and ship. If you select one of their associated merchants, like Adorama, they usually take faster to pack. Then it takes anything from 5-14 days for the item to get from the warehouse to Borderlinx/VPost. After that, it takes about 4-7 days for the item to get to your doorstep.

It will take around 2 weeks for you to get your item

Just got a 270 EX.
Very light & compact. It's going to be on the body all the time.

lol...some of ur replies, might as well dun reply.
photography dun have to be expensive and about getting cheaper stuff from overseas. Why go for a 430ex or watever? TS wants a simple fill in flash for ocassional.
I still find it incredible that pple fork out thousands for a 5D2 + a 580Ex with bunch of L lens to shoot...the ocassional family outting. These are not the folks taking home 10-15K a mth, but normal guy earning 3-4K. Come on....

If you like the Omni Bounce and don't mind the weight, you could try the light sphere.

Hmmm... Might be a little too big for my taste. But thanks anyway for the suggestion.
