Alone in Nepal for 17 days

Fantastic shots! Lovely!

Great shots! Hope to go there soon;p

Hi, nice shots, I really hope to go there this year! Was at Annapurna circuit 1.5years back.

Anyway, Lukla (2840m) to Dingboche (4410m) in 4 days is abit too fast but I understand u might have ur reasons for speeding up the trek. Normally trekkers will have an acclimatization day at an altitude of ~3500m and a slower ascend subsequently to prevent AMS. If you have constraint for the number of days for your trek, you can consider taking diamox which will alleviate the sickness but you must consume it 1 or 2 days in advance. I had it for my Annapurna circuit trek and did not have any headache for my night at high camp (4800m)

Just sharing my opinion which might be useful for those who are considering this trek :) hope to see more photos

#3, #6, excellent stuff. More please!

actually i did it in 5 days from Lukla to Dingboche including a rest day at Namche. I guess my itinerary was not written clearly in the first post. I followed the route plan from EBC Trek Route

I agree that planning for more days for the ascent is a better choice to prevent AMS (The sgtrekker route is considered as one of the faster way up). I spoke to my guide he told me that diamox is not recommended as the side effects are harmful to the body. I have not done enough research to verify this but the general consensus among the trekkers and sherpas that I spoke to seems to indicate that diamox is referred to as a form of drug rather than a form of medication.

thanks for the support

Thanks for the information there. Still considering between Manaslu and EBC trek haha Oh ya, just curious are there many trekkers along the way, i suppose you went there last year end? I read the traffic of trekkers is quite a turn-off, especially during the peak season

Hi hellfire88,

I notice you flew to the Lukla on the second day of your arrival in Nepal.
How did you manage to get your air ticket, TIMS and pay your conservation fees that fast?

What camera/lens did you bring there?

I am going end Feb! ;)

very nice and beautiful! :)

I was there from 2nd to 18th December. It's an off peak season, most of the teahouses that I stayed in had only 1 or 2 other groups of trekkers. Not many trekkers along the way. I have no idea on the Manaslu trek so I cant comment on that. There are pros and cons to trek in peak season so you will have to weight the options and decide. For off peak season the con for me is really the weather. Most of the time it was very cloudy and it was a waiting game for me to get clear skies to get the shot. Most of the days I got lucky and manage to get the shot but in Pokhara for 3 days straight I was not able to get any clear view of the Machapuchare peak due to the bad weather conditions. If you prefer a quieter environment and dont mind a less favourable weather, you can consider trekking during off peak season. I had to do it in Dec largely due to my school exams which only ended on 30th Nov.

On the first day I went to Moasic Adventure (which was located near my hotel) and I got the trekking agent to arrange everything for me. I think because it was off peak season so I manage to get seats for the next day morning flight. TIMS card and Park conservation fees are settled easily as the agent has all the necessary documents that you need to fill in. If you don't feel confident you can email a trekking agency of your choice to make prior booking so you will be guaranteed an air ticket. (I met 2 singaporeans who did that with a local(nepal) trekking agency)

I brought
1. Compact p&s film camera which i loaded with black and white film (#10 taken by this)
2. SLR Film camera loaded with E6 film (#2, #5, #8, #11)
3. K-r (dslr)
4. Sigma 10-20mm wide angle (#1, #13)
5. 18-55mm kit lens (for street scenes/snapshots more for my own family viewing)
6. 77mm prime lens used on both digital and film (#12 on dslr)
7. Tripod (used for #13)
8. Lots of spare batteries (had a ziplock bag full of batteries)

If you are not shooting film, a camera body with about 3 lenses should be enough.

very nice and beautiful! :)

thanks for the comment.
