Pro : I see Canon advertisement on TV quite often and I like the ad very much

i am worried that anka and his assistant will end up like obewan vs anakin skywalker. hehehehehehehe :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

whaa.. your assistant can really do product review well.. and does the number 7) reason means that he/she has upgraded to 1Ds Mk2.. ?

I have a assistant that uses 1d MkII.
I have loan him my D2x before.
apart from resolution and FPS.

he mentioned this to me,

1) nikon grabs better than canon.

2) Ergonomics of functions are better, Eg, Nikon doesnt need to access menu, but for some important functions, canon can only access via menu

3) 1d Mk2 when low battery, it sometimes doesnt save the file properly, ending up corrupting the CF. Nikon still reserves a 1-2% for last minute energy to save the files

4) nikon d2x white balance is far more accurate when set as auto white balance than 1dMk2

5) flash system is alot more accurate than canon, I have experienced that my assistant's canon flash sometimes fire full power, over exposing the image.

6) canon's wide angle lenses are not usable for interior/architectural.

7) thou canon may have full frame, the light falloff for wide angle lenses renders 1Ds Mk2 images not usable for commercial interior/architectural.

except for reason 7, my assistant is trying to find buyers for his canon system to go over to nikon.

Just trying to thingking positively,
Canon Pro's: Fast AF, wider choose of lens, better re-sale value, Warm color
Nikon Pro's: Good flash system and WA support, Blueish color

As for Con's... both system still far from perfect.
IMO: try them both to get piture :):), ...choose the color result you like, or use and combine them both!

Nikons have traditionally had better resale values over Canon esp wrt to film cameras.
I'm not 100% sure wrt to dSLRs though.

Both systems Nikon and Canon are good. if you know how to make full use of it.

If dont know how to compose and also understand limitation of ur own camera (as espn says in the other thread on nikon pros and cons) then whats the use of having a full frame?

the key is just being comfortable with what you have and shooting more instead of debating. There is no end. Both Nikon and Canon rules.

agreed 120%....its man behind the camera that matter...

for me

pro: fast AF
8.5 fps (1dmk2n)

con: need two bodies (1ds2, 1d2n) to do what the d2x does
UI not good

I agree, well said.

to answer this question constructively:

pros:

1. canon has L series lense. very impressive image quality
2. canon changes products fast. used prices will drop faster and its beneficial for budget hunters
3. canon has Fullframe DSLRs which optimise image quality
4. canon has the largest system of AF lenses
5. canon has a very good marketing strategy
6. canon has an impressive line-up of printers. so u can be very sure that your digital camera and printer are of the same brand. if anythin goes wrong, just send both to the same customer service centre

etc

Canon Flagship model of coz good lah.

but how many of us can afford or use the 1Ds MkII?

most would be using the 300D, 350D, 20D or 30D.

the 5D, 1DMkII would be out of reach for most of us.

I tot the website is comparing Canon flagship model with Nikon flagship model? Anyway, I didn't say which is brand is better, I just put link to this site so u all can read about pros and cons of the 2 brands' best DSLR. If I can have any cam in the world, I'll rather get a H2D-39 :bsmilie: .
