Greetings to all RF users...I've recently took the plunge into the rangefinder world and got for myself a Bessa R2A with 35mm1.4 Nokton from Chiifcamera ...

I've got to say that I am enjoying this whole new photography experience(coming from a DSLR world)..it's like having orgasm hearing the shutter each time it snaps..

I am looking forward to learning more from all the SIFUs here..tried searching for a dedicated bessa thread however there's none here so decided to start one..

Hope all the SIFUs here can contribute as many information as possible as here as and when there is a need to..

Thanks to all in advance...

Welcome to RF world :) it brings out the romantics in analoguism!
R2A was my first RF camera (good camera with all the advance function of Aperture priority, bright Viewfinder) ...but sold it quicky due to Leica poisons.

So my 2 cent advice is to stick with this good camera & lens combi as long as you can tahan !!!
May the force be with you :)

Welcome!!! We've all been through that mostly!!! Anyway, keep shooting and leverage on a great set of gear purchased from a great guy! I just hope you won't do anything silly while cocking and firing those shutters k?! :-) Hahaha!

I have the same setup! I like the AE function on the R2A for it's ease of use. And the Nokton 35mm f/1.4 pairs up well on the set. Very good size. I think you'll be hard pressed to find any other combination that has AE, fast, and yet so compact at this price point.

You'll probably be itching to add more lenses, but do consider the trigger winder as well. Really helps you shoot continuously without taking your eyes off the viewfinder. Coming from a DSLR background, you'll hardly notice it's there.

Enjoy your new toy!

Cheers,

Thanks noodlehaus for the advice..I suppose if I do that the exposure will be captured on 2 different frames?

any advice on which reasonably priced 50mm that I should add to my collection?Thanks...

The 50/1.5 nokton is a great lens! Abt 600 from what i see on CS. If you want cheaper the only one i can think of is the j8, but make sure the focus is good! Great lens for portrait and only abt 100sgd!

Both are ltm mount and I would need an adapter right?are those off eBay good enough?

Apart from the nokton, there's also the Heliar 50/2 and Color Skopar 50/2.5 from voigtlander, both in LTM and reasonably good lenses too!

The Ebay adaptors usually will be OK but if you put them side by side with a voigtlander LMT/M adaptor, there's no choice at all. Get the voigtlander adaptor for the better workmanship and quality!

On a side note, the chrome Bessa R is really tempting

I just acquired the Nokton 50mm f1.5, and it is sharp. THe only problem is.... I think the original owner's Voigtlander Type 1 LTM adapter is a bit... messed up? I think I need to pay Chiif a visit...
