Alienbees

understand that the US PCB is still entertaining the existing International customers. Just wonder how do they transact, think they are still accepting the oversea credit card for those pre-existing customer. Any Bros here can clarify? Or any bro can help to purchase on our behalf... :)

@ iamryansaw - so your V mini is 110V i presumed? Mind to share....

hi All,

wondering if i asking my us friend to buy the item from alienbee us website, and then ask him ship the items to singapore via UPS, any singapore import tax will be involve or not?

regards
Honglim

As long as total combined costs dun exceed 400 bucks with shipping cost, GST wont be charged. Or u can try asking ure fren to remove the receipt and say its a gift.

i believe my order will exceed 1000SGD and yeah that's the idea that i'll ask my friend to remove the receipt and state the item is a gift, anyone try this before? whether this is working or not?

bro take note when shipping high price items. If you did not declare the full amount, item lost, you cannot claim the full cost.
since it is cheaper to buy in US, just pay the GST and buy insurance on your shipping.

I encountered once before whereby i shipped 2 blackberry phone to a buyer in US by UPS and he only received it. After 2 months of escalation and investigation, it was found that the employee stole one of the set. They refund me the the amount declared in the invoices since i bought insurance. However, it took another 1 month for the cheque.. :(...

Wuahhh thanks bro for the advise, will do that. :)

Is anyone here using Alien bees stuff? I'm looking at a very simple monobloc system and was wondering what advantages it has over profoto, elinchrom, etc.

My ABs are coming soon. Einsteins. I have seen profoto n elinchrom at work and i can say u can keep having full power pops without worrying it will break. And of cuz price point.

Einsteins are definitely an upgrade for many china strobes which alot of ppl have come to accept. But for a kittle bit steeper pricing, u get alot better functions

I will choose einsteins over profoto anytime. Price wise. And i dun require full b lasts from my lights, rather i want to go very low power n i can fire many times in a second. 1/256 power, u can fire infintely. The next best igbt strobe from profoto or elinchrom cost a ton.. And china igbt still fails..

So Profoto and Elinchrom has IGBT also? don't seems to be able to find this info in google..

why china igbt fail?

:)

Yeah. Profoto has one if im not wrong. But its more ex than their normal ones.

China igbt i used cononmark. It adjust power by a full stop of light. Then the screen is quite old school type uses something like sb600 without illumnating lights. Its abit cheaper than einsteins though.

a bit cheaper than Einsteins? wow.. i always have the impression than Einsteins are quite costly.. may i know how much u pay for your Einstein? what model did u purchase?

quite impressed with Einsteins after looking at the specs!!!

I bought at 439 usd. Now its 499. Yeah specs are good. There is onli one model for alienbees, they r called einsteins.

Agreed... Have been using it for 2 months... amazing light..All the watts are displayed in the LCD screen.. so you know what power you are using rather than measuring by number of stop...

I am buying the cyber commander which can control all the function of the strobe wirelessly..

So they mail overseas now? Or are you buying from another distributor?

No, we still cannot buy from the US website unless you got a US credit card and address.

They have another website in Australia to take care of orders in Asia. https://paulcbuff.com.au/cms/

However, it is more expensive compared to the prices in US but i guess we have no choice.

I remember i bought 1 Vagabond mini with extra battery, 1 x Einstein light, 1 x 7" reflector cos me about S$1500 including shipping ($140AUD). If buy from US, can get about S$1100 without shipping.

anymore samples of shots done with the Alienbees?

Here in usually-sunny but now rainy singapore - the voltage is 230V, so should I

1.) Get my ABs and Vagabond in 220V, most likely from Aussieland and incurring a higher charge.
2.) Get my ABs and Vagabond in 110V and use some kind of adapter to step up to 220V? I can order from US site (have friends who can do it for me.)
