Alienbees

Wanna get a wishlist up with a budget from alienbees. Gotta check the one from AUS, right?

Probably get 2xAB800, vagabond II and a softbox or two.

Get the new cyber commander too. It's pretty neat.

btw i once check the shipping cost from US
the shipping is 1/3 the price of the the product

maybe u all can combine purchase and use surface mail, 2-4 weeks and much more cheaper

1 ab800 package will set u back about 1k already :( should we MO!

i would love to perhaps but the whole lighting kit's gonna take a toll out of my bank. maybe i'll get the basic AB800 set. does it come with the cybersyncs and power supply? :

believe none of their packages have the cybersyncs....however, if you mass order....getting more than 4 flashes will give the other items 20% off.

oh forgot to add....u can mix and match the items and it will still give you the discount. so you don't really have to strictly stick to the packages...

i tried ordering this from Oz website...
(a) 2 x B800
(b) 1 x umbrella
(c) 1 x softbox (32 x 40)
(d) 2 x light stands (10 foot and 13 foot)

discount turned out to be only $25... :(

i think we can do a mo if u all want right? :)

would it be safer to do a MO from Australia due to the availability of 220v systems?

I was advised to choose the 110V because I'm using the vagabond and although the VII handles 100-260V for charging, it converts the power to 110V. i'd just need a transformer if i decided to plug into e wall outlet.

And yea...discount will be greater if you ordered 4 lights.

I bought my AB from US last year. There was a 10% international surcharge on top of the list price on top of shipping cost. Secondly, I have to do a telegraphic transfer, they do not take credit cards outside US. This is before there's a distributor in Australia (www.paulcbuff.com.au). I bought the following:-

1) AB1600 (110V)
2) Vagabond II
3) 4x Grids
4) Extra flash tube + modeling light

All including shipping was about USD$1k.

If you choose to outfit the AB with 220V input, there is a surchage of $10-20. It's not recommended if you are purchasing the Vagabond as well coz the voltage would not be the same. I bought the 110V coz the vagabond can charge at 110V-220V but only outputs at 110V. If you want to plug the AB directly to the wall socket, you need to purchase a step up/step down transformer from a local DIY store.

If you can wait, try waiting for the new ABs. The Einstein's coz they can accept voltage for 110V and 220V. Which means u can buy the Vagabond which outputs at 110V but also you can directly plug in to your wall socket at 220V.

eeyern, would like to know if the vagabond ii came in a box when it was shipped? or was it only with the bag itself? if it was shipped in a box, how big was it? like perhaps 2x the volume of the battery pack?

i am currently looking into getting one from the us since the price from aus is a bit expensive and plus the shipping costs. will try to ship it via borderlinx since they have a concierge service. thanks

ridney,

Based on what I ordered, it came in 3 boxes.

The AB itself comes with a soft carrying bag.

The flash tube + modeling light.

And my first test of the 10 degree grid spot.

Just be aware that US do not accept International Orders anymore, only for existing customers. I remember reading that somewhere on their website a few months ago. You might have to get it from Aus. You probably can check that out at their website.

erm.. wanna ask if we can put the transformer on the VagabondII to change its output voltage to 220V one, I have some strobes already that is for local outlet use..
AB vagabonds are quite cheap and good compared to other battery packs..

I've not tried it before coz my AB1600 uses 110V.
