Alienbees

This is hear say meaning I have no way to confirm this. I spoke briefly with my ex boss he had switch from balcar to enstiens. His comment was that the cyber commander is a better control system - the pocket wizards can have handshake issues leading to the whole thing not firing. Playing it safe is part of commercial work.

But wouldn't u lose the ability to micro adjust power level at 0.1 increments? Can cyber commander do that?

nice location
jelly you .. every time can shoot

Thanks bro..

Using the Cyber commander is the way to go if you want a perfect triggering system with AB lightings. Yes, PW is industrial standard, but i heard alot of issues with syncing using the TT1 and TT5. This is even for happening for speedlights too.
However, if manual mode is used, PW is very reliable.

to save your $$, accordingly to my experience

buy these from PCB
1) esintein (dual voltage)
2) vb mini
3) 7inch reflector + honey comb > good price
4) bulbs + flash tubes
5) PCB power commander and related
6) pocket wizard MC2 , if ur using tt1/tt5

good tip! Quick question - where can I get the ones you listed above, along with the Cybersync Commander and the Tranceiver, in Singapore? Any group buy plans coming up? I'm looking to get 2 Einstein heads, 1 VML battery pack, 1 spare battery for the VML, the CSC and the CST, plus spare bulbs and tubes

i already said buy these from PCB , paul C buff or AB website

there no agents / distro in SG, the nearest one is at aussie but i buy from US using a courier services
read earlier post

for group buy maybe u can talk to colorfullfaces, they have a AB group in facebook
i am currently not in this group :)

If i wanna join in the mass order, how are we going to count the shipping??

erm ...
after 6 months of purchase

finally tested my E640 with AB beauty dish
quite happy with the results, quite a huge significant difference on the recharge rate btw AC & VBM

Also bought a 60inch para umbrella from mandaphoto, anyone tried it before?
;p

@colorfulfaces - PW in manual is well know for being reliable - use these at work, my former boss had version 1.0 when they first came out and upgrade as they got it refined. PW TTL system seems to be a work around if I did not plan to mix in the speed lights into to mix with better control of fractional manual power it would not be a problem.

Anyone know where to get balcar to bowen adapter? I got some bowen mount light modifiers that I would like to use on e640.
I already tried manda photo at peninsula but they didn't heard of such thing. I searched the web and so far I have no idea what they are talking about and it doesn't seem to be what I am looking for.
If really don't have, I just have to start replacing.

for all the bowens softboxes u owned
u just need to get the balcar speed ring
iirc manda photo don stock balcar speed ring, do check with beatrice

since bowens = jinbei mount, u can get jinbei's balcar speedring
then u fix the softboxes to the balcar speed ring then to the E640

maybe u can check with kenneth ? bring your softbox to fix before purchase?

for modifier like beauty dish, snoot, reflector
u just need to get new, cos the mount are usually rivet - don think u can modify it

I went sgcamera before they dont have such a mount. it is not soft box but beauty dish and reflector. Using s-mount. Can still use the speed ring you mentioned?

speed ring is only use with softboxes

as long it does not involve a speedring, you have to buy new one

manda is right, nothing as such. not i have heard or see before such adapter for b.dish or reflector
tats why i bought mine from ab site, while the softbox i bought 3rd parties

HTH

So I guess I will sell the bowen stuff. Anyway I am getting a new beauty dish. Any reflector that is sold here in SG that is compatible with einstein?

The Alienbees group are growing as you all can see in the facebook page.

I am exploring to customize the bowen mount to Alienbees mount within the next few weeks.
It should not be difficult to put both of them together.

I am also looking at Lumia softbox from Reddotphoto. They have good quality (similar to Creativelight) softbox and it is those folable kind without the hassle of fixing rods. The grid is of good quality similar to creativelight too.

If possiblem i would want to see an alienbee adapter on their softbox instead if the bowen. I look at the softbox design, the bowen adapter can be replace easily.

Hope to bring good news to all..
