I think that was done in jest (although it seems rather unprofessional).

I personally welcome representatives from the various camera firms to participate in the forums (although this may need some form of approval/endorsement from the admins - like what they did with EG and the rest).

Whether they are indirectly advertising themselves or otherwise, as long they can provide better customer support and prices to CSers here, I guess they are generally welcomed.

But obviously, if this is some cheap free stunt to gain publicity without providing any additional benefits... then it's another story altogether.

There have been excellent company reps bringing lots of benefits to forums (ie, MT from HWZ, etc...). Let's see if AP's spotty reputation can be improved in this manner.

I feel there is no issue with retailers doing self promotion as long as they identify themselves clearly.

This is much similar to listening to the salesmen do their pitch in their own shop.
For this particular case, the admin could consider contacting AP and check if this is their official voice in the forum.

Agreed!!! Anyone wishing to advertise should identify themselves and then do their sales/marketing pitch. To them - my respect!

There are many people who are advertising in this forum. Under the consumer corner, there are people selling their own products, helping us to get the things we want. For example, Perly.

I don't understand why you are so particular about Alan Photo only.
