Writing this post because I really feel quite amused by some of the Want to Buy posts in the classified.

Some says: want to buy xxxx at $100 (with kit lens) because got no budget. Usually people are selling at at least $400 and above...

Some say: Must be new, no user mark.
should have this that etc.
Price: $x00, when usual want to sell price is at least another 10-20% more.

So now when i click "want to buy" posts, it is mostly to see what are some funny things people will write.

That is why when yahoo auction Singapore closes down, the news actually say it fails because Singaporean dun like to bid, always want to ask for discount?:dunno:

Because Im a student not enuff. Not enuff than dont buy . I myself is a student also. No money dont bother clicking on B&S section. All keep within ur budget.

BUT i believe this topic has been repeating many times in kopitiam.

Yea 70-200 @ $700 but i think just the Interior of the lense only . :bsmilie:
Does not includes the shell of the lense.

i think the shell and mechanics cost 700 bust the glass sure cost way more then tht.

Generally, there are people with typical mindset, relating photography equipments to daily necessities. Agreed with you that Singaporeans dont like to bid, prefer cheap sales. FYI, there are sequel to thread title.:bsmilie: ATLN>>>GLB>>>

i think even if people want to get good deals, they should go research on the market price before bargaining. i mean, if lets say the market price is $400 and people sell second hand at $400 then maybe, asking for a lower price, ie $300, is okay. but if they ask discount for the sake of paying lesser.. yet expecting good quality.. then that is too much. :nono:

Some may have real money constraints.

Some say "student" to get student price.

Some are hinting that others give it FOC or sell near zero price.

Which is possible depending on seller's mood.

The real problem comes when the item has changed hands.
In some cases, the new owner of the item no longer sees himself as a "student".
He considers himself as being very clever to have convinced others in CS to let him have the item at a very low price.

It is possible that he (either immediately or after having used the item for some time) puts it out for sale and expects a high price for it when he sells it in CS or elsewhere, having forgotten that he has benefited from the previous seller's graciousness and kindness.
