as with adult subjects, it is always important to get a rapport with the subject/model before you start shooting.
In the case of a child, even more so, as they are not gonna listen to your commands willingly, unless you can get their attention. So always play with the child beforehand and make sure they are comfortable with you around. The hardwork will almost always surely be rewarded.
