I have ROD for 10 years already. Until now, when I tell people that I was a commando officier for only 6 month, people still give me that little bit of respect.

When I am 50 years old and I tell my children that I was a commando officer for 6 months, they also give me a little bit of respect too.

Even when I die, my grand children look at my Army pictures and they say that my grandfather was a commando officer. His friends will also give a little bit of respect.

Do you think it is worth it for the 6 months of service? You only live once, do what you think it is right to do and don't look back.:sweat: "for honour and glory"

I knew of a classmate who didnt do very well at A'Levels to go Uni, but went on to become commando officer during NS, now agency manager with a life insurance company, also doing very well w/o Uni degree. I knew of another pair of twins, who were kinda fat during childhood days, but managed to lose all the baby fat & by the time they reached 18/19, were so happy & proud to be selected & passed out from 1st Bdn.

Correction, All Commando do the 5Km SOC after their 1st year.

During the Leader course (Sgt) you do the 10Km SOC with progressive training. It starts from 6Km, 7Km, 8Km, 9km, 10Km.....then the trial Test before the actual Test. All done twice, first with vest n slack with boots (mind you the old heavy boot) then second time upgrade to SBO, weapon. :sweat:

Officer get to do all the above one more time after OCS during the conversion course because they are the special one :sweatsm:

seems like only commandos take pride in their vocation..but can't blame them i guess if their leaders give them a reason to, my leaders only make me hate ns and my unit more and more... can't believe i actually wanted to sign on when i enlisted...

No wonder my current reservist platoon mate (down grade from CDO to Infantry) fit like hell!

I heard the Navy Diver course also 'see-bay-siong'! Must go through some 'Hell week' with 4 hours of sleep per day.

I wanted to be siao on and be either ranger, guards or commandos, so I answered the questionaire they gave, to see if you fit for certain vocations, LPPL in the end......became a driver! lol bloody NSF spec driver.... Ns anyhow one la......

Yeah mine was similar. But I want to be based near my home. Alas! SAF screwed me big time and dumped me to far flung camps. Wanted to be a clerk, so can stay out and go home everyday.

But SAF thinks I talk too much cork and made me a signaller. And having seen the clerks' work life during my time and compared to my sig life, no regets man. Glad that I'm a sig.
