After a while, I think Olympus is for me

You don't need a printer to calibrate a monitor, but they do sell a separate device for printer calibration.

The reason for calibrating the monitor is to ensure that, if needed, I do not adjust or PP those photos wrongly, especialy the colours.

Well, I usually send for development rather printing them from my printer (it's a lousy printer anyway) and I enjoy '"real" photos better than just viewing on-screen.

ps : the printer calibrator is more expensive than the screen one!

I see, cos i had the impression u will need to print @ home to chk results.

thx.

I do print sometimes, but the device for the printer is just too expensive, I think is around $500

Any comments on the Sigma 18-125mm or 18-200mm? Or i should stick to Zuiko 40-150mm?

i highly recommend the Oly 40-150mm. optic quality is superb. if u r not looking for fast lens, this baby suits your every need.

want a fast quality lens? then only the Oly 50-200mm will move ur heart. anything else is a compromise.

I also think that the pics are nice. Maybe shld organise an outing so we will
know why Olympians are "stucked" with Oly to the core

i guess most Oly users like the colour & DR of their DSLR. the ease of use, portable & top quality Zuiko kit lens is another pulling factor.

if it works for them, why the change right?

I'm just too poor to get those 'L' lenses, but craved for good optical quality. IMHO, Olympus's ZD lens suits my needs.

To me, for a camera system, the lenses are the most expensive, body is only a fraction of it (judging from consumer DSLR range).

From the series of pics you've taken, the E300 is definitely capable of handling great looking shots. I think with the influx of new low-cost digital SLRS in the market these days, I feel consumers are kinda missing the point that at the end of the day, photography is still about the skill, not so much on the gadgets.

I seriously think that you'll never be able to find that 'perfect' camera. New and better ones are always on the rise and a good photographer is one who learns and understands his camera, brings out the best and copes with its flaws. Kinda like a relationship really. And whoever said noise is necessarily a bad thing?

I am proud to be the owner of an E300 SLR. Sure, I've read good and bad reviews about it but as I said, at the end of the day, it's really about how you use the camera to your advantage.

Good luck with your camera!

Kieran

As long as the camera is good enough, it's the photographer that makes the difference in the pictures taken.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I only have the kit lens which is more suitable for wide angles shots.
Maybe will get a telephoto or extended telephoto later on to take bird/insects shots.
