so this toy now available in local shops? any best price?

Don't bang on it.. Nikon not likely to drop price but they may discontinue the older version.

Partly agree.... they usually will let the old lens RIP..... less the shop that still have stocks.... got to sell lower to get rid of it.... :dunno:

This lens is in stock. LORDS is selling at $800.

wow... didn't expect it to hit that high... but yep it's early adopter's price...

even if it's $700 I think it's not worth it as the performance is not a major leap compared to the AFD f1.4... there are already some trickle of reports of not so stellar performance...

maybe it's better to just get the older version...

don't rely on reports only

buy both and use them intensively for a period of time
keep the one you like, sell the other ...

can't afford to waste money like this... so I'll just have to rely on reports from early adopters...

Took a couple of shots with the new AF-S 50mm f1.4
rather disappointed with the slow focusing but on the contrary, its very accurate and sharp
I like the warmer color on the lens too.

I would say I'm more confident of it getting my desired images at wide open compared to the AF-D. Reason being that it's sharp at f.14 which i use for most of my shots and its spot on accuracy.

I'll hafta really use it on a job to see its real performance. So till then just take a look at these couple of shots for the time being. Btw I will not ans qns pertaining to the cost of the lens.

Lumiere, are you a photographer? Yes I have to agree that you have to use it in real life "your own taxing low light conditions" to really ascertain the AF. We don't shoot charts or much static man. This weekend both are hot dates, hope you can share some pix in galleries (can PM me if you have to). Thanks a lot!
