was that the older AF version or this
new AF-S version?

not sure about good or no good on FX, as I don't have one :cry:

Thanks for all the replies :D

I think I'll just have a go with my 50mm f1.8. Try to see if I can actually use it with MF :D

maybe you might wanna loan it for 1 or 2 days to see whether you can MF fast enough before deciding to go with the purchase.

I own a 50mm f1.8 :D
But hardly used it because of the MF haha.. Now I'm going to give it a serious try :D

pls do. actually i am new at this too. one of my trick is to prefocus on the area first than fine tune n shoot. its a guessing game loh. some of my fav photos are with MF than on AF and have more keepers

@ahquan: could you elaborate more about prefocus on the area then fine tune and shoot? ^^;

ooh can.. ok eg: this fella you know is gonna cross this spot so b4 he reaches u focus it nicely le.. than when he steps into the frame u can just snap loh. or if adjustments need to be done just a tiny bit and see tat green dot dun blink and release shuttle.

its the ability to see how well u can read the subject next move. but for sports u just have to have patient. :) i shot a swim event and ruby b4 like that. patience is really needed but sports use easier MF i use for more fun stuffs and some pose shots :D

you find it v hard at first but try on still objects first than try those moving slowly objects and you will soon get the feel of it. i am not v good at it also but ever since i got my D80 i have been lazy to MF with 50mm. actually it helps to get MF lense like those Ai-s Mount. they are cheap too.. but you cannot got wrong with 50mm. gd luck
