It's crap ( IMO and for my needs ) in the 24-32mm range.
( I've owned it, used it and sold it 3-4 years ago. )

The new ones looking great.

wah ... your expectation of a lens so sakti huh ... :o

What is the 'E' stands for?

What is the 'E' stands for?

E acronyms for lenses without diaphragm lever that controlling aperture.

Note that G and D lenses still have this diaphragm lever. All of new Nikon lenses are E lens, without the lever anymore as it is fully automatic lens.

Meaning it will be based on electronic contacts to control the aperture?

Yes, using electronic contacts to work the aperture.

If I am correct, the current PC-E tilt/shift lenses are the first to feature this. Its a paint to adapt these lenses to other cameras unless somebody like Metabones start making smart adaptors like they did for Canon EF lenses.

Yes, no more mechanical aperture control, only electronic via the contacts on rear side of lens.

Suppose to provide more consistent exposure during high fps shooting. Eliminating one mechanical lever and precision movement for fine control of aperture (read up on AiS). Not compatible with older DSLR (D300 onwards ok) and all film SLR.

Some images to look at :

Like a 70-200 ? :)
