After I bought this lens and used it for two trips, I sold my UWA (Tamron 11-18).
Of course, there were moments that I wished I had an UWA lens.

BTW, I still kept my 55-200mm VR for one of those occasions I needed a tele. It is pretty light and the VR for tele is very useful to me.

I agree. The 55-200mm, which is small, light and handy, complements the 16-85mm very well.

Actually I was just wondering, anyone of u guys with this lens bought a wide angle and which one u guys bought... End up got use or not cos 16mm is relatively wide liao..

I actually prefer my 55-200mm at 85mm but most of the time, I cannot be bothered to change lens. (lens are never best at extreme ends)

I have the 16-85mm lens. In fact, it is the first DSLR lens that I bought. I also use the solid Tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens, which is useful in taking wider shots and shots under low light condition due to the constant f2.8. I have to say that the 11-16mm is my second most used lens and the 16-85mm is the most used lens. The 16-85mm is sharp under low light condition due to its effective VR. Think carefully before you buy your lenses. Money is hard to earn especially in recent times.

Yeah yeah, I fell in love with my copy of 55-200mm VR the 1st time i used it. I was like giving up this whole thing with my D40 kit then, until I purchase the 55-200mm VR. Would have used it more if not for the distortion > 135mm. Its my 85-105mm "prime" haha.. There is something about the 55-200mm VR that my 16-85mm cannot give. I can even see a clear reflection on the iris of my subject! (maybe because I zoom in more.. I dun know) The green colour from my that lens also power. But maybe all this was due to my much lower expectation then. I had not been shooting with it alot these days,

Chef...
11-16mm Sounds like quite useful for me. Maybe should get a UWA and a prime 35mm or a light 17-55mm to bring with the 11-16mm. (17-55mm, the 35mm region at F8 is superb minus the far corners)

11-16mm is useful. As for the 35mm prime, I don't think I will need it. 85mm prime lens is more useful for me (complements my 50mm prime for portrait shots). 17-55mm is for those who value the feeling of sendiri shiok. If sendiri shiok is not important to you, then 16-85mm is more than good enough IMHO. Image quality of pictures taken using 16-85mm is razor sharp even without flash in low light condition.
