nikon should replace the f/1.8 as well

AF-S 50mm f/1.8G ;p

That's going to bring up the price quite a bit. ;p They should use the same technology from the 18-55 kit lens for this one to bring the price down.

hard to say until we see the optical performace of the new lens I think...

to some the 9 blades (more natural bokeh) and the more silent (and maybe faster) auto-focusing maybe all that they would be happy with to get this lens... :)

for those who don't have the AF 50mm... they now have two options to go for (of course it may not make decision easier :bsmilie: )

Exactly... I am looking forward to the 9blades Bokeh ;)

AF-D was not so good with it, lets see... Meanwhile I will continue to enjoy my creamy Voigtlander 58 1.4 SL II

With this introduction of new AF-S 50mm, i do hope Nikon will upgrade some of its current
primes too like the 35mm n 24mm ...

sorry to OT abit why are everyone excited abt the 9/7 blades elements? any difference as in the elements? my understanding is more elements the more complex and more prone to flare?

with 9 blades, you get a nicer bokeh, esp shooting wide open.
it can be quite a significant difference. but again, this is subjective.
some ppl like it some ppl dun.

Wonder with the introduction of the af-s 50mm,will we eventually see the reduction in prices for both the af-d f1.4 & f1.8 versions:think:

the 50 1.8 is already pretty cheap. maybe phase out?

I don't think so, there's no replacement for it. Most probably the AF-S f/1.4 will replace the AF-D f/1.4.
