AF-S 35mm f/1.4G Nano

Shot at Botanic Gardens at 630pm last weekend. The surrounding was a bit dark but the f1.4 was very useful in this case without flash:

Yes, this is the kind of lovely shots that 35mm lens can give esp the f1.4  Couple with the 85mm, unbeatable combination particularly in taking pretty pics of girls, models, with the two opposite perspectives & different coverage. Used a 35mm lens for 20> years, never fail to appear natural & to wow. In the days of film when zooms were practically very much useless, this was like a standard "all in one" walkabout lens used by many.

Drooling with envy. But when I read that 35mm is the walk around lens, good coverage and perspectives (using 35mm for > 20 years), it is used on D700, a full frame DSLR. So for DX, this would definitely mean gong to 24mm?

The f1.4's not mine, I drool too :) I'm only contemplating getting the 24mm f2.8 which is approx 35mm on DX & much cheaper but it will not be the same. The 24 can be used if & when I decide to upgrade to FX. The perspective of 24mm is more wow for scenery, less so for portraits but its still fine with me.

I'm using 24mm 1.4G on my DX 300s currently. For a 35mm on DX, it will look like 50mm.
I sold my 50mm 1.4G previously because i find that images are too tight in the photos. Well... just personal preference lah ;)

Here's one taken using 24mm 1.4G

Any owner of the AF-S 35mm f/1.4G Nano has encountered barrel distortion so far, especially in the corner issue while shooting at f/1.4 on FX body ?

Yeah, there are some distortions but not obvious and manageble. Do you have any photo to show if you encounter any serious distortion?

I've been using this lens for a while now. I must say that my impression on this lens has gradually increased. Very satisfied with the results right now.

And the focal length seems so perfect for me. With 50mm, I find myself stepping back a lot and at 24mm, I always need to get too close to the persons I am shooting.

Very happy with this 35mm :D

Anyone knows where can i get ready stock for this lens? And roughly what price?

I have tried the 24mm f/1.4, but not the 35mm f/1.4.
The barrel distortion of 24mm is not that serious, still can be corrected.

This 35mm lens is poisonous .... ;)
