I took these with my 50mm f1.8 with Hoya +10 macro filter. #1 and #2 are not cropped

+10 marco filter is not suitable for moving insects as the distance between the subject and lens is too close

that's not macro indicator... just a distance indicator... 1.8 also having is just showing it in a different way... try focus far far away and focus close subject like 50cm then you'll know what i'm talking about...

you can try
1. close-up filter
2. extension tube
3. reversing couple (most make for 50mm only)
4. dedicated macro lens (older macro lens might fit your budget)

haha, thanks for correcting my noob comment ;)
I googled on dist indicator and have a better idea now

It will still be able to mount and usable on D40-D90, just that it will not meter like D300, D700 & D3 do.

the metering you're referring to is this?

3D Color Matrix Metering II, Center-weighted and Spot

There's so many options to convert a 50mm to macro, what's ur experience with using the Close Up filter?

Cool pics! hahaha.. esp #2! lols...:bsmilie:
Thanks! ;)

Close up filter is good but the distance is too short (between lens and subject). its more suitable for stationary subject.

fyi, all the pics above taken with a tripod and i use small aperture. it can be very time consuming

my raynox is bought from MS.... i can't remember... i think it was $120 or so...

wow! since when did MS carry Raynox? thought it was McGill that brings them in... so now MS also selling the Raynox?!?
