AF-S?

better think thrice.

maybe can tell us why ?

my afs dx 55-200mm f4-5.6 (NON-VR) has no problem
but then again, it's cult

do u mean the "afs" in the 24-70mm is known for problems?

buy 24-70mm...too pricey for me..

maybe IamJeFfy meant she/he needs to think more than thrice :bsmilie:

Great lens for travelling. Very versatile focal length for FX bodies.
95% of the shots I taken were with this lens. The rest with Fisheye and 14-24mm.

If you're shooting concerts, you would want the AFS 70-200 f/2.8 VRII. 4 stops of shutter control would be perfect for you.

a lot of indoor concerts (pop or performnce) actually ban photography while e performance is ongoing.. so does it really matter abt the VR II?

How abt the 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF? I m currently using it on my D700. It's pretty good n yet affordable. It can be switch to Macro too.

Hi All ,

Need advise from all you ppl.
I intended to go FX soon (D700 or perhap D700 s/x whatever).
Now still in 'stone age' using D200.
Presently , I have AFD 20-35 f2.8 and I am interested to get AF 24-70 f2.8 too.
Should I get this 24-70 or still stick to my 20-35 ???
I need it for event shoot (concert n etc) and I love f2.8.

Now , your call.;)

Presently I own AFD 50 f1.8 , AFD 80-200 F2.8 , AF 24-120 and of course AFD 20-35 f2.8
No DX at all

Cheers:)

24-70 is a 'must' if you intend to go FX...

Anyway what's the problem with living in 'stone age'? :sticktong

If u really intending to go for D700....24-70mm is a match made in heaven.

No doubt it is a fantastic lens. But you have to ask yourself, if you really need it....

Found out what some of the users referring to now:

Seems like the current 24-70mm has a chance that it will have grinding issues that are not covered under warranty sometimes.

I had this problem during warranty and had it repaired at NSC. They have the lens barrel replaced. So it should cover under the warranty.
