Advice pls, Canon 70-200 f4L or Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX?

I was torn between choosing either one also...in the end finally went for the Sigma 70-200 f2.8...coz of the extra stop. And it comes wif tripod collar + hood too...I think for the f4L you have to purchase the tripod collar seperately. But I agree wif u on the weight...the f4L is much lighter..

U've also chosen a good lens, its f2.8 might prove very useful on some occassion. For me, f4L is just perfect...
Btw, I got a black tripod collar for mine...I just like it much better than white collar...

am considering one... have a friend from the states coming so i tot of asking him to get it for me... about USD570

once i was crazy searching for EF 70-200 f/4 and EF 70-200 f/2.8 locally as well as bidding on ebay. but one day i suddenly realize i dun need that long range. i have no reason to get it at all. how many chance do i shoot birds, wild animals, flying aircraft, or anything far away from me? very seldom. 99.99% of the time my subjects are landscapes, portraits and macro. so my len combination is 28-70 f/2.8 for landscape and for portrait when i am less mobile (because it can zoom). 85 f/1.8 for higher quality portraits when i have enough space to move around (also the 1.8 does make big difference than 2.8. really.) i might be getting a 100 f/2.8 Macro as well for macro. this fits 98% of my needs. no need to get 70-200. if i really want to spend money in the future, i will go for 16-30L maybe for another 1% shooting.
Well, we're all have different needs...For some, fastest & longest lens is a must...For others, weight & price factor are more crucial...Depending on which area u like to explore...landscape, nature, portrait or macro? I guess it all comes down to ur own decision...
If u dun mind 1 stop slower, in my opinion f4L is excellent as it doesn't break ur bank nor ur back...Add canon or kenko pro 1.4x converter & u get a modest but extremely light & hi-quality 280mm@f5.6 (448mm@f5.6 on Digital)...No regret...

yeah boy! i second that! loving my F4 for it's light weight and range. however suspect may need to get a tripod collar too....anyone knows where to get a white one cheap? :thumbsup: btw i want a 67mm skylight B+W MRC for it. anyone knows where to get it? CP out of stock leh....
