Hi, has any bros here ever used this lens on their mamiya 645 before? I'm thinking of getting this zoom (non-AF) for convenience sake when going overseas, and i hope to be enlightened by your experiences with it.

There is not much info on the net but what there already has always mentioned about the lens not being wide enough on most occasion, what are your thoughts on this? Coverage aside, i'm also interested and concerned whether this zoom lens has significant distortion on the wide end and whether photos taken with it will turn out flat and dull.

I would like to know more about this lens before buying it, please shower or flood me with opinions and if possible, some photos you have taken with it!

Thanks! :)

hope this helps

I guess, if you are carrying zoom lens, you must be willing to compromise on image quality. As to how much compromise, everyone's limit is different.
if you find 55mm is not wide enough for you, then you might choose to carry 2 lens :

- 45mm F2.8 and
- 80mm F1.9

both lens are very good , and you gain a bit of sharpness , color and contrast,
but .... you need to carry something more... :)

enjoy your hoilday

Got hold of this beauty a few days back and oh boy, sure it's huge! It came with the original hood but i wonder how long more will the rubber last before it degrades and fall apart.

I will run some rolls thru it and upload some scans in future for bros who are considering getting this lens :)

Hi everyone, i would like to share some photos taken with this lens.

All photos are taken at f/8~11, except the 4th image taken wide open. I also realized vignetting wide open is more than my liking, it seems like it was taken with a lomo camera.

Despite its weight, when mounted on my m645 i feel that i can handle the camera better because of better body-lens weight balance. The fatigue from lugging this for an evening is worse than my sony A850+300/4 for a day in pulau ubin, hopefully this is something i can get used to and be better-conditioned to in future.
