Advice on A55 purchase

Bro, ...thats a weapon lah !

A few times I went into camera shops with my A55 and the canikon crowd there kinda like laughting and making bad Sony jokes, I simply dial my A55 into 10fps mode and squeeze off 2 secs of shots at them !

...The immediate silence and looks of amazement is like 'VISA' ....Priceless ! ...the A55 could just as well have been an AK-47 !



ps: 10fps sounds slightly different with different lenses ...my favourite is the killer shutter sound of the A55 paired with the 35f1.8 prime.

Oh I have this experience while in Universal Studios SG with family one guy using N D90 with huge lens snapping and taking burst mode shots of some street performer and I was taking shots here and there he look at my cam and made a :devil: smile... what i did was I stand slightly in front of him so he could see my LCD then did a pano sweep!!! hahaha the preview it on my LCD.... after seeing that he left and his :devil: smile all gone :sweatsm: :sticktong

Not making fun lah ! ...is true story ! ...I know the sales people there, the next time I went there, one of the staff told me that after I left, a couple of them asked to see the A55 and one of them even bought it on the spot ! :devil:

Now whenever the sales people wants to sell an SLT, they just fire off the 10/7 fps and close the sale 90% of the time.

btw, ...quite a few of my best shooting buddies use Canon, Nikons and Olympus, we have a healthy respect for each other's work yet at the same time can poke fun at one another's camera brand without feeling offended.
...those are TRUE photographers which I'm proud to have as my buddies !:heart:

Bro imagine your 1 year plus old entry level camera can match the new K5, and outbeat the new D7000 and 60D which is considered their mid-range DSLR. That's already a feat!

Another thing, your LV 4fps already thrash all LV cameras in the market...

7fps is nothing to be sneeze at !!! ...tell me how many other cameras within the same price bracket can do 7fps ???
...it's the same speed as the A33, but the A33 AF faster. Somehow it also sounds abit faster without the mirror flip sound. :bsmilie:

It was fun shooting F1 and the F1 concerts with my A550... Held the camera above everyone's heads, fast AF in liveview and shoot off a fast burst. There were D5000 users and a lot of Canon 550D users who simply couldn't get a good shot, their AF was not fast enough or they didn't have an articulating screen to easily compose the over-the-head shots.

ya now Canon also can, but its only 1 model ma, unlike our Alphas almost all models can tilt the LCD less the A2 series.

The Sony user in pic one is probably thinking "U shooting stage or u shooting people's head?"

Tilting and swivel Lcd screen without fast af on liveview is useless.

D5000 and 60D have the Swivel lcd screens but with such slow lv af, i wonder what pictures they can take. Even video also mf, how to turn the focus ring when the camera is above your head?

went to both MS colour n SLRR but both hv no stock n MS price is abt $100 cheaper than
Sony Style... my package from Sony is as below.. i tik its quite reasonable..

It could be that Sony is gearing up for Sitex. Who knows, there might be good deals there. The last time they included extra batteries, a 50mm f/1.8 lens, etc. Was a surprisingly good deal (since normally these IT fairs just throw a lot of rubbish at you)
