Just trying out a short advertisement sort of video. Let me know what you think? :)

Anyone knows what's a good software to remove ambient noise from outdoor speeches like this?

I used Garage Band but there's still some noise.

Use an external mic. You can use your cellphone mic for a start, and put it in the actor's pocket or near them. I use my iPhone mic sometimes and it works great. You just need a slate or something to sync the sound later, or can use plural eyes or just clap.

Cool!

Any thoughts about the overall video?

Err... Disclaimer first, I'm not an expert video guy but I attended a flim making workshop before and learned some stuff, so here goes. xD

For the changing of focus, DPs usually use it to tell a story and at the same time to add visual interest, so at 0:13, I'm not sure what story you're attempting to tell by focusing from the brick wall to the guy. Usually it would be best to mean something, doesn't have to mean a lot. And the guy is weirdly positioned in the frame. I would remove that scene altogether.

The shots of the actor's faces also get "muddy" at times because the DOF is too shallow and the focus was not dead on.

The video feels a little slow to me, maybe it's influenced by the music, I'm not sure.

There is still room for improvement for the lighting in the talking scenes.

My 2 cents. :)

Hehehe.. ya. The brick scene wasn't even meant to be used. My camera guy was just doing a test shot but I decided it was one of those 'alternative' take on a scene, purely 'artistic' and not one of those things that have to make total sense. Just using my own creative license but yeah, you are the second person to comment on it (beside my camera guy himself :bsmilie:).

I guess our technical competence is not there yet, and we have a lot to learn in order to perfect that part of our work. Guess it's time to get some Cinevate follow focus. ;p

Yeah, I agree the lighting could be improved but originally we planned to film that scene in the day but one of our models decided to be fashionably late, and so we had to change plans.

It was all worth it though, for me, cos a lot of people (mostly girls) say they tear up watching it but for the life of me, I can't seem to be that affected.

Probably because we are the ones who do the technical work and create it, so we don't really 'feel' it, as much as the layman.

;)

Not really a pro here

But as an audience POV, maybe you could do away the scene in front and have a scene whereby you do a back focus of the background and do a mid pace transition of front focus to the actor who is fiddling with the ring on the actress's finger or caressing her face, all of this at a mid shot and only back lighting (fill light would be good too) to display a romantic/touchy(wadeva you call that) kinda feel. Then continue on with the male lead's speech so on and so forth.

hope it helps or provide another option for you.

Cheers
