[adrewine] ~ Around the World with Oly

i was told by my regular camera shop assistant that the only advantage of
vf3 is the lock. display and resolution is not so good. try both out before you
buy.

let me revisit (if) the vf2 brightness can be adjusted on my epl2 and revert.

both the vf2 brightness and temperature can be adjusted...
menu -> hotshoe (5th icon) -> C (elec viewfinder) -> EVF Adjust

Hi Jim..........Thanks for the info.........will definitely compare the 2 VF when I visit OSC again probably next week if I've the time.......

Here's a shot for you my friend ...........that I think not many people would easily accept..........

i'm really amazed by the photos that you have taken using the kit lens. it really change my whole prespective of olympus's camera. I was also someone who will frown when someone told me that they want to get a olympus camera, i will even discourage them to get it. i'm now considering the ep3 and really looking forward to more amazing photos taken by you....

Thanks pasta for dropping by and your kind words...........I'm glad you like the pictures coming out from the Oly kit lenses.

I must say many people who like my photos were pleasantly surprised when I told them they were produced by Olympus cameras.......You could almost see their disbelieve in their eyes!

One of the biggest strength of Oly is their Jpeg engine in producing beautiful colors (I've never bother with RAW file).....so my workflow is very easy and simple......just use Picasa3.......

Oly colors are very natural and pleasing to the eyes especially skin tones and blues.

However just like any other brands out there.......Oly also have their own set of "idiosyncrasies"........Hehe!

Like I always say "shoot to the strength and capability of your tools" and not try to hope that it's a FF cameras or "L" lenses..........You can't compare Apples to Oranges.......Just like Ferrari car to Hyundai Pony. Each has their own attributes.....

Oly PEN cameras and their many lenses are small, light and competent for my style of shooting which is "shooting on the go (fast and discreet)" and "walkabout(mobility)"............My setup are 2 PENs and 2 kit lenses (you don't need full backpack or trolly bag) .......Which they are now going for a "song and dance"......E-PL1 costs < $500...

Oly PEN has come a long way.......and I think the E-P3(E-PL3 & E-PM1) is a killer that's going to give those entry level DSLR a run for their $$$!........the AF speed is damned fast!

I know a few of my friends who shoot with DSLR are considering switching/switched oledi leow to the mirrorless system be it PanaOly,NEX or NX.....as we all already know sooner or later Nikon and Canon will jump in also.

One of my friend who have to die die shoot in RAW with his high end Ni*** in order to get good colors, have just told me that he's now shooting in jped file
only with his latest D7000 cam............I guess with improved technologies things gets better and everyone wants their photography to be easy, simple and hassle-free.

Well........ time have changed and a simple shooter like me is also changing with the time too..........No offense to those out there but it's just my personal opinion and perspective only.........not to be taken seriously..............

My motto is "Shoot to have Fun and Enjoy, the World is Beautiful and so is Photography!"

Congrats jungle-sg wise choice ..........hehe........I'm old also and can't see very well now.........legs also not so strong

You know.......I used to shoot with 2 Oly entry-level DSLR on the go and when the PEN came out..........I decided straight away to make the switch..........No Regrets.......

Can always move in and out of tight/hostile situation or hot spots very fast and easily (don't have to be afraid of losing/damaging your equipments)......furthermore nobody give you a damn when they see the kind of cameras you're using.........Shhhhh..... can always nap that exclusive shot.........provided you carry a funny face also!

Enjoying my Photography even more now and still can always wait for more exciting new toys and innovation from them to roll out.............Shhh............expect more HG (High Grade) lenses in the near future before the next Pro-PEN cameras.............Oh boy they come marching in!~

Well.....here's to you and all those Oly fans/followers are the shots from my Oktoberfest coverage in the home ground of München (Munich), Germany.......

Enjoy!

Thanks Jim.......

I have problems getting the shades right also with Dramatic Art Filter too!
You are not alone my friend........But!........... I'm learning more and more each day I shoot with it..........

There's no shortcut to going thru' these experience (headaches and heartaches)..............

I know some of you out there have been discouraged..............Don't be...... (I hear you...... I also go thru' those time................)

Remember when the going gets tough.... the tough always gets going with Oly........Why? ......Shooting with Oly is not easy but when you get it right you will be handsomely rewarded.........hehe!

Seriously...........To me the journey getting there is the Fun part!
If getting there is easy then where's the thrill right?

So shoot more often!.........The world is beautiful and so is Photography!

Here's a shot using the same setup for you my friend!
